SINGAPORE - Whenever the star witness stepped out of the court building or out of the car, a human wall would follow her.

With sunglasses and scowls on their faces, the message they want to send is clear - don't mess with us.

They form a perimeter around Ms Cecilia Sue, 36, and they have attracted almost as much attention as she has.

A check with local security companies revealed that they are neither bodyguards nor bouncers.

A professional bouncer who declined to be named said: "No one I know in the bouncer circles knows them."

CALL him shameless or naive but a 20-year-old has sent more than 300 letters to the richest residents in Sentosa Cove asking for a “sports car sponsorship”. And as incredible as it may sound, he said 10 have responded to him within a week – though none has granted him his wish.

In a brief letter sent last Thursday, Mr Gaw Yu Han introduced himself, giving his name and age, before stating his purpose which was “the hope of finding a sponsor”. He said he likes cars and listed as his favourites Audi R8 Coupe, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Honda CR-Z.

“May I have the courage to ask for a car as a gift from you?” he wrote. Owners of a Sentosa Cove property, he added, “must be a person of great success” and “it will be nice to know and perhaps learn from you”.

She told the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) last year about her sexual tryst with ex-Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) director Ng Boon Gay at a Great World City apartment.

But the woman at the centre of Singapore's biggest sex-corruption case involving a top civil servant insisted in court on Thursday that they never had sex.

Ms Cecilia Sue Siew Nang, 36, the star witness in the sex-for-contracts case against Ng, said he had tried to force himself on her in the apartment.

But she had fought him off and they did not have sex, because if they had, "it would have been rape".

LLANSAMLET, Wales - Lauren Thomas got the shock of her life when she tried to colour her hair at home, and instead ended up with a grotesque swollen head and a scalp that was oozing pus.

The 16-year-old teen had bought the hair dye 'Nice n' Easy' by Clairol, and neglected to do a patch test first as she had bought the hair dye range several times before with no adverse effects.

Her aunt helped her dye her hair as per the instructions on the box. However, within a matter of hours, her scalp started itching.
