Mom Catches Foul Ball with One Hand – While Holding Baby with the Other

Tiffany Goodwin should play for the major league. The mom from Fredericksburg, Virginia, 31, caught her second foul ball in as many weeks at a Richmond Flying Squirrels game. This time, she made her catch in epic fashion, reaching out with her gloved hand, while holding her 8-month son, Jerry, in the other.

While his mom caught the ball, Jerry looked passively on, munching a biscuit.The amazing moment was captured by Mark Gormus, a photographer from the Richmond Times-Dispatch. The Squirrels were playing the Harrisburg Senators in the Double-A minor league game. Ms Goodwin had caught a foul line-drive at the park last week.

Ms Goodwin told the Richmond Times-Dispatch: ‘We were on our way to the game Sunday, and my husband said he’s been waiting 38 years and never caught a foul ball. I told him, ‘Maybe you’ll get a chance today.”‘ But then Ms Goodwin made the catch.

She told the newspaper, ‘He said, “I called you off, I called you off. I could have had it.” But it was already in my glove, and I told him possession is nine-tenths of the law!’ The photo of Ms Goodwin’s catch has been widely circulated on the Internet.

In the photo, young Jerry is shown wearing a helmet, which has sparked a lot of questions online. Ms Goodwin told the Times-Dispatch that he’s wearing a ‘shaping helmet’, to ensure his skull plates fuse properly. He’s said to have to wear it 23 hours a day for the next five months. Jerry’s sisters Elizabeth, 7, and Katherine, 3, are also seen in the picture.

The family has season tickets for the Flying Squirrels. They also like to go see the Washington Nationals, the Potomac Nationals (a Single A team), and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (a team in Charles County, Maryland).

Ms Goodwin told the Times-Dispatch: ‘We really like watching minor-league games. They’re more family friendly. And we always take our gloves so we can protect the kids and ourselves’. Allen Goodwin, 38, also pictured, is in the U.S. Air Force, and now works for the Inspector General’s office at the Pentagon.

In the 13 years the couple has been married, they have lived in eight places. They also enjoy playing baseball and softball on community teams. Ms Goodwin said: ‘What I love about the picture is that Jerry is laid back, just eating his biscuit, and the reaction on my husband’s face’.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Opens Up About School Bullies While Posing Topless in GQ Magazine

She’s been doing the rounds in a series of glossy magazines since being named the Hottest Woman on Earth by Maxim, but Rosie Huntington-Whitely wasn’t always so popular.

The model-turned actress has opened up about her battle with former school ground bullies, who would call her ‘kipper lips’ and ‘t**t lips’. The 24-year-old revealed the taunts while stripping down to a sheer deep red gown and bikini bottoms for the July issue of GQ magazine.

It’s not the first time Rosie has posed for the magazine, but this time she admitted: ‘I was teased about the way I looked at school.’

While being photographed topless with her arm covering her modesty, she said: ‘I got teased because of my lips. ‘I used to get called T**t lips – because I had big lips but no breasts. And then I was called Kipper Lips.

‘There was a big group of girls that was Devon’s answer to Mean Girls, and they would storm the bathrooms shouting, ‘I’m going to f****ing deck you, Lips! See you on the school bus’.

‘And boys didn’t really go out with me.’

Despite the grim portrayal of her childhood, the Tavistock-born beauty did say she had fun with friends too. ‘We’d hang around in soggy jeans drinking cider. I did long for the city. But I was a very outdoorsy kid.

‘Until I was 15, riding was my thing – I was horse-obsessed.’

But her whole life suddenly changed when she was 17 and started a summer internship in the back room of a modelling agency. ‘I was shocked. I used to see all these supermodels walking into the agency – tall, elegant glamazons. I was just a big lump from Devon.

‘But within a year I was travelling to America, being booked for French Connection, Tommy Hillfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch. I started to make serious money.

‘Suddenly school didn’t seem quite so important.’

Since her big break, Rosie’s modeling career has sky-rocketed and seven years later, she has transformed into an actress for Michael Bay’s latest film. She replaced Megan Fox in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, out next month, and plays Shia LaBeouf’s girlfriend in the film.

The modest star says that although she doesn’t think she’ll become the next Meryl Streep, she’s willing to work hard for a shot to make it big in Hollywood.

‘Would I like even a sniff of Angelina Jolie’s career? Yes.  Do I think I have a future in this business? I certainly hope so. And I’m going to work damn hard to make sure I do,’ she said. Rosie, who currently dates Jason Statham, added: ‘I’m not standing here and saying I’m an amazing actress or that I’ve had a heap of thespie training. But you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t.’

Teenage Mother Tries to Suffocate her Baby – Caught on Hospital Surveillance – Video

This is the shocking moment a teenage mother attempts to smother her baby in a hospital.

Hidden video cameras caught 18-year-old Shantaniqua Scott place a blanket over her four-month-old son’s mouth. Moments later she clamps her hand over his face and mouth as the newborn baby kicks and struggles for life as his air supply is cut off.

By the time the teenage single mother removes her hand her son Raymond’s body appears limp. Seconds later, with alarms going off indicating the baby had stopped breathing, doctors and nurses rush in to resuscitate him.

The shocking footage was played to a shocked courtroom in Texas where Scott is on trial for attempting to kill her newborn son. Jurors sat in rapt silence as the video tape recorded at the Cook Children’s Medical Centre in July 2010 was played in a Fort Worth courtroom.

They had heard how Scott’s son had been taken into hospital after he was reported to have suddenly stopped breathing. Doctors who examined him at first thought he suffered from severe acid reflux. He underwent surgery to correct the condition – when acid from the stomach backs up into the oesophagus – and was released from hospital.

But two days later he was back in the emergency unit after he mysteriously stopped breathing. Staff suspected he was the victim of abuse and set up a hidden camera on the ward where the baby was recovering. Scott was caught peering into her son’s cot and placing a blanket over his face for up to 20 seconds.

When a nurse briefly enters the room Scott paces the floor and appears to check her cell phone. Then, when left alone she reaches into the cot and with her bare hand clamps it over her baby son’s mouth and nose. The video records her trying to suffocate her son for one minute and 14 seconds.

Heart and lung specialist Dr Sami Heed said the baby would have died but for the intervention of staff when his monitors sounded an alarm.  He told the court: ‘I still get emotional. I get night sweats when I think about it. I take care of the sickest of the sick. His life was being put in danger by someone who was supposed to take care of him.’

Jurors were told that Scott confessed to police she no longer wanted to care for her son and in a taped confession admitting smothering him. Sgt Pedro Criado of the Fort Worth Police Department said Scott told detectives she didn’t want her child anymore. ‘She just basically stated that she just wanted to go back to that carefree attitude she had before she had the child,’ Criado said. She also said it was hard being a teenage mother, complained that the baby’s father didn’t help and added that she didn’t want to deal with the stress anymore.

Doctors said it’s not known if the child will have any lasting injuries from the lack of oxygen. He is being looked after by social workers. Scott faces life imprisonment if convicted of two counts of causing serious bodily injury to a child.

Alice Pyne, 15, Writes ‘Bucket List’ of Things She Wants to Do – Before She Dies of Cancer

An inspirational teenage girl has created a ‘bucket list’ after being told that she has terminal cancer.

15-year-old cancer sufferer Alice Pyne with her pet Labrador Mabel

Alice Pyne, 15, suffers from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and has created a website to update followers about her progress. The teenager, who lives with younger sister Milly and parents Vicky and Simon, has a list of wishes which range from meeting Take That to staying in a caravan.

Her family is working towards helping her achieve all her goals before cancer claims her life.

The courageous youngster speaks frankly about her illness on her blog www.alicepyne.blogspot.com and has over 1,000 followers, including This Morning presenter Philip Schofield.

Alice was diagnosed with cancer just over three years ago and has undergone extensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments.

She also received a stem cell transplant where her own treated cells were used, but treatment was not effective.

Last year more than 1,000 people signed up to see if they could donate bone marrow to Alice, along with help from the Anthony Nolan Trust, but in October a scan showed there were no more curative treatment options.

Brave Alice – who lists her occupation as a ‘full-time cancer fighter’ says on her blog: ‘I’m 15 and I have terminal cancer. I’ve created a bucket list because there are so many things I still want to do in my life … some are possible, some will remain a dream.

‘My blog is to document this precious time with my family and friends, doing the things I want to do. You only have one life … live it!’

‘It’s a bit funny me doing a blog because mum has always done these sort of things and I’ve never really being interested before.

‘Most of you know that my scan at Alder Hey wasn’t very good and that the cancer is now spreading through my body.

‘It’s a pain because there’s so much stuff that I still want to do.

‘I guess that my particular cancer is made of strong stuff (which is hard because I know I gave it my all and I’m strong and determined too).

‘Anyway, mum always tells me that life is what we make of it and so I’m going to make the best of what I have and because there were so many things I still wanted to do, mum suggested that I turn my ideas into a bucket list.

I’ve not quite finished it yet, as I keep remembering other bits, so I might add things to it as I go along.

‘I’m not expecting to do everything on it. Some of the things are just not going to happen because I can’t even leave the country now (I’m too much of a risk), but they’re on there, because they were on my ‘to do’ list at some point.

‘So, I thought it would be fun to have my list online and to tick things off and do a little update on everything I do.

‘If anyone has suggestions, please let mum or dad know because they don’t know how to do all of it yet. They’re working on it!

One of Alice’s main goals is to encourage people to sign up to the bone marrow register.

On her blog she dispels the myth that it hurts to have the procedure done.

She said: ‘I read on someone’s post that it is really painful.  Well, mostly bone marrow is taken as cells via a needle and I have had it done.

‘I was 13 when I had my first transplant and because they used my own cells, I had to have them taken out (they call it harvested) and then stored and put back in some months later after more chemo.

‘I’m not just saying this, but it really didn’t hurt at all.  I had a tiny bruise from the needles and that was about it. I was a bit tired too but I’m always tired so that may not have been the cells.’
