PETALING JAYA: A 15-year-old boy slipped and fell from the third floor of an apartment block while trying to break into a home, where the occupants have gone back for Hari Raya.
The teenager survived the fall but suffered a broken arm and injuries to his mouth.
A security guard, who declined to be identified, said the boy might have tried to pry open the unit’s window, located at an arm’s length from the corridor, hoping to sneak in but he lost his footing.
The incident is believed to have occurred at 1.30pm yesterday at the Customs Department staff quarters in Kelana Jaya. The boy, who lives with his parents in Block A, was trying to break into a unit in Block C.
“The boy is lucky to be alive. He hit two window awnings on his way down which helped to break his fall.
“Nevertheless, it was a hard fall and he broke his left arm and injured his mouth,” he said.
He added that the unit’s occupants, who had gone home on Friday night, had been notified of the incident.
The boy was rushed to the University Malaya Medical Centre for treatment, and is reported to be in stable condition.
