The police reveal that local women are being used by Nigerian syndicates, and while the paper trail lands the women in court, the foreigners walk free.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained three local women, including a mother of five, and seven Nigerians in connection with an internet investment scam.
The housewife in her mid-40s was arrested after police checked her bank account and discovered that there were transactions amounting to more than RM400,000 for the first half of this year.

The woman also disclosed to police a ledger which contained records of the transactions and the commission she allegedly received.
The suspects were detained in Cheras, Puchong and the city centre on Friday and Saturday.
Police investigations into the syndicate began after the Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Department received several reports from victims as far as UK.
A raid was also carried out on an African restaurant in Bandar Puteri, Puchong last Friday. More than 50 ATM and credit cards, mostly belonging to local women, were also seized.
“When we interrogate the local women, all of them confessed that they have been lured by the Nigerians with cash, luxury apartments and oversea trips.
“In return, they just need to open accounts and withdraw the money as instructed,” said a source.
The source said that even forensic examination of the laptops and email accounts used in the transactions led to the women and not the Africans.
“In the end, the locals end up in court while the foreigners walk free once their remand order expires,” the source added.
