PADANG BESAR (Aug 21, 2011): Police are looking for two men, believed to have robbed a Thai couple in front of a quarry at Jalan Wang Kelian-Kaki Bukit near here last Friday, said Padang Besar police chief Supt Che Man Md Dros.
He said in the 7.20pm robbery, the couple were travelling in a white Toyota Camry from Wang Kelian to Kaki Bukit when the car grazed into a black Toyota Vios which overtook the couple's car after failing to run the vehicle off the road.
"The couple then got down from their car to inspect the damage when two men, in their 20s and 30s, who were in the black car, rushed towards them with a machete," he added.
He said the suspects then ordered the couple to get back into their car where a scuffle broke out.
"In the scuffle, the Thai woman was injured on her right arm and also lost her handbag which contained RM7,000, four handphones and personal documents," he added.
Che Man said the suspects, who wore baseball caps, then ordered the couple to get out of the car before one them took the wheel and fled.
He said passers-by helped to sent the Thai couple, aged 48 and 50, to the Kaki Bukit police station where they lodged a report before they were taken to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital for treatment.
Che Man said the Toyota Camry was later found at Kampung Semadong near here.
He urged those with information on the suspects to contact the Padang Besar police at 04-9491481 or the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, in another development, police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the theft of a taxi in Cheras last May 5.
Che Man said the suspect was driving the taxi when arrested at Kampung Kubang Menerong near here about midnight last Wednesday.
