Lib Dems want to cover up Pg 3 girls

Lib Dems last night backed a potty plan to stop shopkeepers from selling the Sun before 9pm.
In a clampdown on Britain's best-selling daily and its most popular page, militant party activists said it should be restricted to the top shelf.

Ex-MP Evan Harris led calls at the party conference in Birmingham to "tackle the projection of women as sex objects".
He put forward a motion to restrict photos of topless women in tabloids and lads mags to the same rules that apply to pre-watershed TV.

The crazy plan is now official Lib Dem policy — but Nick Clegg was quick to distance himself from it. A close source to the Deputy PM said: "It's not very liberal, is it?"
Dr Harris held up photos of stunning Page 3 girls on the conference stage as he blasted "sexualised images" in newspapers.
"It's just wrong in my view that this should be seen as normalised," he said.
"OK, these images can be available for adults if they want to access them, but they should have to reach up to a higher shelf than what is at the general view for young people."
And he said that with a shake-up of media regulation due shortly, now was the time to "make sure that the normal portrayal of women is not one that is purely objectification".
Dr Harris joins the ranks of deputy Labour leader Harriet Harman, equalities minister Lynne Featherstone and former Cabinet minister Clare Short in calling for a Page 3 ban.
The ploy sparked a wave of fury on Twitter, with one user saying: "A country full of problems and in desperate need of solutions, and the Lib Dems are voting on banning Page 3. Sheesh!"
And another said: "Killjoys. In these tough economic times the men in the country need something to cheer them up."
