KUALA LUMPUR: The man involved in the assault of two female student nurses exposed in a YouTube video has been identified.
However, one of the victims, who is believed to have been the assailant’s girlfriend, has refused to lodge a report.
Her reluctance has hampered police investigations, said Sabak Bernam OCPD Supt Noor Mushar Mohd.

However, he said the police would continue to investigate the case.
The other victim had gone to the police last year to seek assistance in removing the video from YouTube, Supt Noor Mushar said.
“She was also worried about the safety of her friend who has refused to lodge a report with us, citing that it was a personal issue.
“We have tried to persuade her (to lodge a police report) many times to assist in our investigations but to no avail,” he said.
He said the victim’s reluctance stemmed from a desire to cut short her relationship and connection to the assailant.
Four complaints were lodged separately with the police last year after the year-old video was first uploaded online on Aug 12 last year.
The Star reported yesterday that the video had resurfaced on the Internet over the past three days and was widely circulated on social networking site Facebook, earning the ire of netizens who had viewed the clip.
The video, slightly over six minutes long, shows a bespectacled man slapping, punching and kicking the two students while intimidating them with vulgarities and threats.
The clip, titled Malaysian Heroes, remained on the video-sharing site yesterday and had recorded 42,753 hits as at 5.30pm.
Supt Noor Mushar also said police had since written to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to remove the video clip as requested by the complainant.
“We will do our best to ensure that the culprit is prosecuted and brought to justice,” Supt Noor Mushar said.
