A SICKLY father travelled 60km by boat from the Kuala Penyu Hospital to visit his son during Hari Raya only to be dumped by the man at a mosque a few hours later.
Harian Metro reported that 71-year-old Wahid Husin travelled to his son's house in Labuan immediately after he was discharged from the hospital.
However, a few hours after arriving at his son's house, he was taken to the An-Nur mosque nearby where he was left to fend for himself.
He was found hours later in a weakened state by the mosque's caretakers.
He was still in his green hospital garb and was sitting among the flower beds at the mosque.
Wahid claimed the son also took the money that was donated to him while he was in the hospital.
"I never thought that my son will treat me this way," a tearful Wahid said.
Mosque staff managed to contact his younger brother, Alias, who claimed that Wahid was often neglected by his seven children.
Alias added that he and his sister had taken Wahid in to live with them but the man's children would scold them for interfering in their family affairs.
Labuan Welfare Department Senior Citizen Unit officer Jamil Jemon said Wahid would be placed in a welfare home.
