Sweethearts: Jon and Jill

CRASH victim Jon Kimmins woke up after three months in a coma – but couldn’t remember his girlfriend who died in the car he was driving.

An inquest yesterday heard the accident has wiped away all his memories of fiancee Jill Green.

Jon, 22, doesn’t even recognise photographs of her and relies on friends and family to tell him about their relationship.

He said: “I look at photos of her now and she’s gorgeous but it’sfrustrating because I can’t recall anything about her. I have the odd flashback but there’s nothing concrete and I would give anything just to remember Jill again.”
Jon and 19-year-old chef Jill had only been on holiday in France for an hour when tragedy struck and their Fiat Punto was in a head-on smash with another car.
Jill, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was killed instantly. Now warehouse assistant Jon fears he will never regain his memories of the woman he planned to marry.

He said: “Everyone has told me what an amazing couple we were. I’d give anything to have my memory back but I don’t think it is going to happen.”
The couple had known each other since Jon was six because he was best friends with Jill’s brother.
Jon moved in with Jill and her parents, Tony and Ulrike, in Camberley, Surrey, in 2008.
Yesterday’s inquest heard Jon and Jill planned to go on holiday to Disneyland Paris, and got the ferry to Calais on March 31 last year.
After arriving at about 3pm they dropped their bags off at the hotel before going out for a drive.
Jon told the hearing at Alton Magistrates Court: “The only other thing I can recall is a car coming out of the blue and hitting our car full on.”
The coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
