SINGAPORE - Three hooligans beat up and humiliated a 15-year-old while recording the hour-long ordeal before attempting to extort $800 from the victim. The three have pleaded guilty.
Ang Quan Yang, Benson Lim Wei Sheng and Edric Heng Yo Peng took the teen to a deserted tennis court at the Jurong West Sports and Recreation Centre, where they punched and kicked him, before ordering him to strip to his underwear.
They further continued their vicious abuse by ordering him to remove his underwear and to wear it on his head while shouting 'underwear king' in Mandarin. He was then ordered to run 20 laps around the court and do star jumps.
The clip recorded on a mobile phone also showed the attackers flicking cigarette ash onto the victim's face.
At the end of the torture, the thugs threatened the victim to handover $800 by the following night or face more abuse.
The teen however went to the police.
A district court yesterday sentenced Ang, 19, and Lim, 20, were sentenced to reformative training.
Depending on their progress, Ang and Lim will serve between 18 months and three years in a structured regimen of foot drills, counselling and education.
Even after their release, they will be placed under supervision, which includes wearing ankle tags that track their movements electronically.
Heng, 18, will be sentenced on Dec 17, as he faces an additional charge of wrongful restraint.
Another police investigation also revealed that Heng and Ang were involved in assaulting another 15-year-old.
The two thugs had accused the teen of harassing Heng's girlfriend. They then punched the teen in the chest and face in a toilet for the handicapped at the same sports centre.
Ang then left while Heng stayed behind and ordered the victim to strip and masturbate while he filmed him.
He then passed a victim a lighter and ordered him to burn his pubic hair.
After awhile he told the victim to get dressed and gave him another punch before leaving.
Neither victim can be named as they are below 16 years of age.
For committing extortion, the culprits could have been jailed for between two and five years and caned.
