A mother of three begged the religious authorities not to contact her husband when she was caught for khalwat (adultery) with his friend in Penang.
She told a religious officer that she would rather be locked up in jail than have her husband find out about her affair.
"I do not want my husband to know about this. He would be very upset with me," said the unidentified woman, who has been married for 29 years.
The woman and her 45-year-old lover were caught by the Penang Islamic Religious Department during a raid at a motel on Thursday.
The woman said she was not having any marital problems with her husband and claimed that it was the first time she and the other man had met at the RM40 per night motel.
Her lover, who is also married, admitted that he knew the woman’s husband, who was his co-worker.
"I knew her husband before I even met her a year ago, but this is the first time I invited her to sleep at a motel with me," the man told the department's operations and enforcement head Khairul Azman Azizan.
He also told Khairul that his 25-year-old wife was now eight months' pregnant.
Seven others were also caught during the raid for khalwat and inappropriate behaviour in public places.
