SPEAKING OUT ... David Haye
DAVID HAYE has pointed the finger firmly at Dereck Chisora for causing Saturday night's shameful bust-up.
The British heavyweight duo had to be dragged apart in Munich after a war of words bolied over and blows were traded.
Chisora, 28, had been talking to the media following his defeat to WBC champion Vitali Klitschko when things quickly turned sour.
With the atmosphere already tense due to Chisora's pre-fight antics, Haye used the Press conference to indulge in some 'banter' with Team Klitschko.
But his presence did not sit well with Chisora, who left his seat to confront his fellow Londoner — a move Haye claims he simply responded to by standing his ground.
The former WBA world champion said: "During the post-fight Press conference, I was stood at the back of the room. It wasn't until Bernd Bonte said my name and involved me that I commented.
"I was then happy to banter back and forth with Bonte and Klitschko, keen to ascertain whether Vitali would stay true to his word and reiterate his desire to do what his younger brother Wladimir couldn't do — knock me out.
"I felt as though the public would want to hear more information about this potential bout and that we could both start beating the drum ahead of a showdown later this year.
"However, at this point Chisora began firing insults at me from his position on the top table. In fact, he has recently made a habit of saying derogatory things about me in the media.
"Moments before declaring he wanted to go face-to-face with me, Chisora assured the gathered media that he would give me 'two slaps'. Chisora had, of course, already been shrouded in controversy that weekend.
RISING TENSION ... Chisora and Haye go head-to-head
"Despite this, Chisora climbed down from the top table, removed his robe and then walked towards me, entourage in tow, in an aggressive manner.
"I held my ground but, unfortunately, he caused a serious disturbance to occur, something which threatened to damage the reputation of the sport we both love."
After the controversial incident, which led to his manager and trainer Adam Booth suffering a nasty gash to the head, Haye cut short his stay in Munich.
Chisora was later questioned by the police, who remain keen to talk to the Hayemaker.
Haye, who will co-operate fully with any investigation by the British Board of Boxing Control, regrets the incident but refuses to accept the blame should be placed firmly at his feet.
BAD BLOOD ... Dereck Chisora states his case to Adam Booth after the fracas
He added: "Regrettably, some members of Chisora's entourage also encouraged the chaos. Nevertheless, Chisora and I soon separated, brushed ourselves down and moved in opposite directions.
"The confrontation then reignited, however, and both Don Charles and Adam became involved in the mess. Adam suffered a cut to the head.
