The Education Ministry has ordered a probe into allegations involving a student who played truant to offer sex services to strangers during school hours.
Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said the school authorities had been asked to submit a report on the matter.
It is learned that the Form Two student went missing from school three days before the start of the Chinese New Year festive break.
“We view this claim very seriously and we will get to the bottom of this.
“The school authorities have been ordered to investigate whether there is any truth to the allegations that the student was involved in vice activities,” Dr Wee said when met at his office here yesterday.
A source had told a vernacular newspaper on Thursday that the teenager had allowed herself to be picked up by pimps outside her school during school hours.
The girl was said to have served up to seven clients a day for RM500 each time.
The earnings, said the source, would then be spilt equally between the pimps and the teenager.
The girl would then be driven back to her school just before the end of school hours to avoid arousing the suspicion of her family members.
The school had also issued a preliminary warning letter to the girl after she missed school for three consecutive days.
