Google is planning to introduce new high-tech sunglasses equipped with a computer screen in one lens that streams information directly into your eye, the New York Times reported Wednesday.
Nick Bilton of the newspaper wrote that this new technology allows you to scroll and click with the tilt of your head using special sensors, citing unnamed Google employees.
For instance, when someone stares at a bridge while wearing the glasses, Google will transport information about the bridge.
The glasses "will have a low-resolution built-in camera that will be able to monitor the world in real time and overlay information about locations, surrounding buildings and friends who might be nearby," writes Bilton.
The glasses will use Google's Android operating system and will include a small screen a few inches from the wearer's eye, with a 3G or 4G data connection and a number of sensors including motion and GPS.
They are not intended to be worn constantly, but will be more like smartphones, utilised when needed.
It will cost around the price of current smartphones, which between US$250 (S$313) and US$600, and will be introduced by the end of the year.
