Dead Mother Passes Cancer On To Her 9-Month-Old Daughter In Utero

A mother received the devastating news that she had cancer shortly after she welcomed her new bundle of joy into the world.

Briana Cox, a police officer from Phoenix, was diagnosed with Melanoma following a seizure that occurred just three months after her daughter, Addison was born.

After the diagnosis, doctors assured Cox her newborn baby was perfectly healthy, but to be on the safe side she had her tested.

Unfortunately, Addison was born with stage 4 Melanoma passed on to her in the womb.  It is such a rare occurrence it has only been reported to happen nine times in the past 9 years.

Cox was first diagnosed with the disease in 2006, but has been tested regularly and was told by doctors Addison could not get the disease, according to Cox’s husband, James.

Poor Addison’s cancer has spread to her brain, heart, liver and other organs.  She is expected to live only two more years.

Baby Cox is now taking chemo pills, but they are very expensive.  There will be a fundraiser on March 3rd to help the family with Addison’s health costs.

Briana Cox succumbed to cancer this past month leaving behind a husband and and three children.
