Stein Dokset confessed that the remains were that of Rungnapa Suktong, his girlfriend of six years who dumped him for a policeman |
Police in Thailand have arrested a Norwegian businessman who admitted killing his Thai girlfriend and keeping her rotting body hidden in his luxurious villa for two and a half years.
Police Col. Sirisak Wasasiri said 50-year-old Norwegian Stein Havard Dokset confessed to killing the woman by pushing her down the stairs after an argument at his beachside home on the resort island of Phuket.
Rungnapa Suktong had been reported missing by Phuket police in late 2009 |
Sirisak said police, acting on an anonymous tip, discovered the woman's decaying body in a trash bin in Dokset's bathroom.
Police have pressed charges against Dokset for murder, hiding evidence and illegal possession of a weapon.
Dokset was arrested on Tuesday after police found the acid-burnt decaying remains of a human body in his basement bathroom.
He later confessed that the remains were that of Rungnapa, his girlfriend of six years who dumped him for a policeman.
Meanwhile, Parichat Sriraksa, a 30-year-old cousin of Rungnapa, told the Phuket Gazette that she left Dokset to marry a policeman stationed in Patong.
She said the couple had a son together nut police have yet to confirm this information as accurate.
During the raid on Dokset’s house police found several bottles of chlorine pool cleaner in the same bathroom where Rungnapa’s body was hidden.
