The ex-husband of a former teacher accused of having sex 231 times with one of her students told the court his marriage was crumbling about the time of the alleged affair.

Mike Jellema took to the stand on Friday to testify against his ex wife Deborah Ashton, who is accused of having a two-year affair with a boy in Grade 7 in 2002. He was only 12 years old.

She has pleaded not guilty to five sex-related charges.
