KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 — Two people were killed and more than a dozen were injured when a bus carrying 24 Indian nationals went out of control and overturned as it was coming down from Genting Highlands this morning.
According to a Star Online report, the accident occurred at Km4.5 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway.
It is learnt that initial investigations showed that the bus was speeding.
Three fire engines and 25 rescue personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department were sent to the accident site.
According to police, the bus went out of control, hit the road divider and crashed on the other side of the road.
The injured were sent to the Kuala Lumpur and Selayang hospitals.
The dead were a woman in her 50s and a man, who died on the way to hospital.
There were a total of 26 people on the bus, including the two drivers, who were also injured. The drivers have been detained by police to help in investigations.
The bus was headed for Kuala Lumpur, and then Singapore, said the Star report.
Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s Emergency and Trauma Department head Datuk Seri Dr Abu Hassan Asaari Abdullah said four of the victims were in critical condition.
