AdilanClub: Malaysia : A Nation Divided

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 — It’s all there for us to see. Images of policemen beating up the protesters, of a police car being attacked and overturned by protesters, of barrages of tear gas and chemical-laced water cannons being fired onto the crowd. What started off as a peaceful protest ended in madness. These are some of the scenes of Bersih 3.0 on 28th April, 2012, scenes that many have not seen for over 40 years in Malaysia. We are not used to and find it very disturbing.

AdilanClub: Police rampage: M'sia in crisis, no thanks to Najib's sham 'transformations'

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

“428” will go down in Malaysian history as one of the national milestones in the long and arduous struggle of Malaysians to reclaim their democratic, constitutional and human rights promised them when the country achieved Merdeka 54 years ago.

The other recent landmarks of this struggle are:

Firstly, Bersih rally on November 10, 2007 (“1011”) bringing out 40,000 Malaysians in support for electoral reforms.

Secondly, the “Political tsunami” of March 8, 2008 general elections (“308”) which cut down the mighty Barisan Nasional down to size, winning five state governments for Pakatan Rakyat and depriving BN of its two-thirds parliamentary majority.

AdilanClub: Bersih truth emerges: RESIGN, NAJIB RAZAK, you're a disgrace. Go before you are chased out!

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

When we read the first-hand account written by Renee Talalla, a 70-year-old retired teacher who attended the April 28 Bersih 3.0 rally, our initial reaction was - we felt ashamed. Then we saw red.

What type of a government would do such a thing to its people? What type of a Prime Minister would endanger a nation's youth, its women and its senior citizens? How DARE they!

Malaysia Chronicle was also monitoring the Bersih 3.0 rally and our observations do not differ from Ms Renee's.

It is time to do some major housekeeping in Malaysia and Malaysia Chronicle would like to begin the call for Prime Minister Najib Razak to take responsibility.

Resign, please quit and do not shame the nation any more than you already have.

(Wong Choon Mei, Malaysia Chronicle)

AdilanClub: Police or Gestapo: "Rock solid" video evidence of cops on rampage - Tony

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

More and more victims are coming forward to provide rock solid video evidence as well as witness accounts of clear cut police brutality against both innocent journalists as well as ordinary Malaysians standing up for their rights.

It has become clear and undeniable that the police force was on a ruthless rampage to beat people up.

The police force has gone well beyond even Malaysian norms of just using tear gas and water cannons to disperse a peaceful assembly.

Adilanclub: Yahoo! poll finds majority blaming police for violence

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

May 2: A poll conducted by internet search engine Yahoo! on its Malaysian page shows majority pinning the blame on the police for causing the violence during the Bersih 3.0 rally last Saturday.

Visitors are given five answers to choose from, to the question: “Who should be blamed for the violence in Bersih 3.0?

PUBLIC COURT ... The survey results as at 12.20 pm today

At press time (12.20 pm today), after more than 40,000 votes, 60 percent respondents said the police was to blame.

17 percent of voters decided to support UMNO's theory that Bersih's co-chairperson Ambiga Sreevenasan is at fault, while 13 percent think PKR's top duo, Anwar Ibrahim and Azmin Ali, who some said had told the crowd to breach the barricades at Dataran Merdeka, are to blame.

However, only 7 percent think that DBKL is the culprit while a negligible 3 percent accused protesters of causing violence.

More than 200,000 people were gathered at several parts of the capital last Saturday to call for electoral reforms before the general election, widely speculated to be held this year.

More than 500 protesters were arrested and scores injured, including policemen and journalists.

AdilanClub: Minimum wage: Too little too late!

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

Pakatan Rakyat welcomes the long overdue announcement of a minimum wage rate at RM900 for Peninsula Malaysia and RM800 for Sabah and Sarawak by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib Razak yesterday.

However, Pakatan Rakyat is of the view that it is long overdue, the effective rate amounts to no change in reality and the policy is implemented in a piecemeal manner.

There is no doubt that the Bersih 3.0 rally on April 28 has succeeded beyond the wildest imagination of any one.  Not only for the immensity of the numbers of participants, but also for their spontaneous expressions of love and devotion for this beloved country.

Where in the world can you see demonstrators that packed like sardines from one end of the street to the other, and overflowing from one street to the next?

AdilanClub: We have failed the next Generation with our past apathy: WE MUST WALK NOW!

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

I can't help but feel guilty when Bersih co-chief Ambiga Sreenevasan in her recent interview said that the youths have awakened and are fighting for their rights but we have failed them. Her words "My generation - I'm 55 now - has failed the next generation, we didn't fight enough during our time when abuses were taking place and when we were losing our rights."

Yes, those words ring true. How much better can it be said? Indeed, we the older generation have not done enough when the Barisan Nasional was rotting the country with corruption and abusing every law in the book as if it was their absolute right to govern this country. Just look at the massive corruption' of the Ministers and their little Napoleons, such as the KL Mayor Ahmad Fuad, who refused to allow the Bersih 3.0 rally to use the Dataran Merdeka as venue for their sit-in rally demanding free and fair elections.

AdilanClub: It's NOT over, y'hear me: Bersih 3.0 is NOT just a protest!

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

Pat Lu and my fellow pahlawans arrived as early as 9am on April 28th, they stayed with colleagues of WAO and Abimga at Pasar Seni. Because I only landed in Kuala Lumpur the night before and was suffering from a slight vertigo from pressure change during flight; I only got into Pasar Seni at about 2.15pm.

The journey on the LRT into the city center was a breeze, the trains were light in passenger traffic and many young people in yellow were taking the same train from the Paramount Garden station where I boarded the train. I found that this time around, people are very comfortable wearing yellow; be it the official Bersih 3.0 T-Shirt or any tinge of yellow they can put on.

The phones were not working and SMS took a long time to reach; I could not connect with Pat and the Pahlawans, so I joined Celine, Choy and our friends from Gerakan Penang. We moved to the street between the Bar Council building and HSBC; joining the rest of the crowd; just milling around and standing in.

AdilanClub: Wife finds bikini shots in porn site

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

Thanks to a friend who tipped her off, housewife Jules Rahim recently found that a photo of her was featured on a pornographic website.

According to The Straits Times, the photo of her in a bikini was also found in a dating site. Below the photo was a caption which gave the reader a telephone number to call and how much it cost to chat.

The photo was lifted from her Facebook account, the report said. Jules posted the photo three years ago.

The mother of four children told the paper that the hijacking of her photo from Facebook was embarassing.

"People I know may think wrongly of me," she said.

She has filed two police reports. She also plans to file a magistrate's complaint at the Subordinate Courts for intentional harassment.

"I want to sue them," she told the paper.

The police said they are investigating the matter.

The report added that it knew of at least two other Singaporean women who had discovered that their Facebook pictures were lifted by these two websites.

A lawyer the paper spoke to said the victims have the right to demand that the sites remove the photos but it is difficult to make them comply when they are based overseas.

Experts have recommended that Internet users use the highest privacy settings possible.

adilanClub: What’s next for ‘bangkit rakyat’? — Clarence Sim

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

APRIL 30 — Catch-22 was one of the books I read when I was in secondary school. It was tough to make any association to my life or surroundings back then, but the plot seems much more apparent these days.

I was caught off guard by the tear gas canisters being fired, round after round, at Masjid Jamek area. I kept asking my friends, “Did you hear any warning siren?” And all I got was a shake of the head.

Tear gas was first used in 1914 and largely during World War I. Although the substance then was much more hazardous than what we experienced on Saturday, it is still questionable as humane technique to disperse a crowd.

AdilanClub: Probe EC top guns over Umno ties, Mat Zain tells Najib

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 — The prime minister is obligated to follow the law and investigate the Election Commission (EC) chairman and deputy chairman over possible deception about their membership in Umno, said Datuk Mat Zain Ibrahim today.

The statement by the retired former city Criminal Investigation Department chief comes on top of criticisms by the electoral reform movement Bersih over the impartiality of the head of the commission in charge of overseeing the country’s polls and is another test of Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s commitment to reforms ahead of the upcoming general election.

Ha .... ha .... ha .... ha ..... ministerial salaries are between RM70,000-RM80, 000 + +

Ha .... ha .... ha ..... ha .... so funny

Fraud and oppression of workers. The announcement by Najib is very funny and extremely stupid. The announcement makes no sense at all. Until when will we continue being deceived and oppressed by the government. Can you all imagine between RM80, 000 + + to RM900, the gap is much difference?

Until when we will continue to be fooled by the government. if you all have the intellect and mind, let us do something so that we can no longer continue to channel all deceived and oppressed.

Reminiscent of the video presentation that the police gave after the Bersih 2.0 rally last year, noticeably missing were footages of police assaulting protesters. Also missing were video clips of protesters allegedly assaulting policemen.

The videos, which played for about seven minutes, showed various scenes of protesters appearing aggressive and the police displaying restraint.

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 — Before telling my story, I would first like to clarify where I stand. I stand as a Malaysian, I stand as an individual who believes that Malaysia is a beautiful place, and deserves good governance.

I joined the Bersih 3.0 rall, not only to champion for free and fair elections. I joined the rally to lend support to many fellow countrymen who believe Malaysia deserves good governance. I joined the rally because I believe that, as an individual, I can make a difference. I joined the rally because I am Malaysian.

There, I joined the rally. Should any of you find it offensive, go read something else.

AdilanClub: Hisham warned editors not to report on police brutality - Surendran

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

I refer to the Bersih 3.0 rally and the BN government's high-handed and brutal action against the media. We have uncovered further evidence indicating that the orders to harass, obstruct and arrest journalists covering the Bersih 3.0 rally came from the highest levels of the Home Ministry.

On 27.4.12, the Home Minister Hishamuddin Hussein Onn had ordered all Chief Editors of major dailies to appear before him. We are informed that at the meeting instructions were given on how to report the news on the Bersih rally on 28.4.12, and that the editors were asked to refrain from reporting on police brutality.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak’s attempt at concocting a false façade of himself as a ‘reformer’ came to a grinding halt in the gas-filled streets of Kuala Lumpur on a blazing Saturday afternoon.

Najib let loose his thugs in blue who rampaged through the streets beating and kicking unresisting and unarmed protestors as they ‘arrested’ them. They were unfazed by the fact that they were being caught on camera since they would always be protected by their masters.
