KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has every right to hire Datuk Yusof Zainal Abiden as his lawyer as the latter resigned from his Solicitor-General II position in February, de facto law minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said today.

"...I understand that Anwar called him (Yusof) to supposedly strengthen (Anwar's) case and defend him, but what determines whether a person is guilty or not is not the lawyer, but the judge in court," Nazri was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

Yesterday, former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir blogged that the Bersih 3.0 rally was a “preparation” and “warm-up” by Pakatan Rakyat for violent demonstrations to reject the results of the 13th general election should the opposition fail to win it.

He said: “Their defeat will be followed by violent demonstrations that will go on and on so that the election results are rejected and a new government is put in place, that is approved by the opposition.

“After that, they will attempt to hold an election again that they can manipulate.”

A Japanese artist cooked his own genitals and served them to five paying diners in Tokyo to cover the medical costs, in a bizarre act to raise awareness about sexual minorities.

Mao Sugiyama had his penis and testicles surgically removed in March and kept them frozen for two months before dishing them out - seasoned and braised - to customers at an event hall on May 13, according to postings on his Twitter account and local police.

Diners paid 20,000 yen (RM768) for the plate with a portion of genitals.

A farmer dragged his sick daughter into an abandoned house and raped her instead of taking the 16-year-old to hospital.

The incident in Sabah's northern Pitas district happened when the 38-year-old man was headed to the hospital with his daughter and 11-year-old son riding pillion on a motorcycle.

On the way, the man stopped by an abandoned house, Kota Marudu OCPD Deputy Supt Isa Yusof said.

The father left the boy on the motorcycle by the roadside and dragged the girl, who was having a high fever, into the house and raped her.

He then threatened the girl not to reveal the matter to anyone, saying he would kill her and the rest of the family.

Police have launched a manhunt for the farmer, who is believed to have escaped into the jungle near his village.

Yesterday, 10 Bersih leaders, including Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan, became the first persons to be sued in a civil action under the PAA, introduced just days before the April 28 demonstration for free and fair elections.

The government is claiming RM122,000 for alleged damage to 15 government-owned vehicles.

This followed Tuesday’s charges levelled against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Azmin Ali of participating in an unlawful assembly, the first criminal charges under the same law which Datuk Seri Najib Razak had said would allow freedom of assembly “in accordance with international norms.”

KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 — Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders have questioned Datuk Yusof Zainal Abiden’s entry into Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s legal team, saying it raised doubt over the opposition chief’s acquittal of sodomy just four months ago in which the former Solicitor-General II led the prosecution.

They told The Malaysian Insider that Yusof’s move was “unprofessional” as it damaged public perception of the trial which lasted two years and saw Pakatan Rakyat (PR) repeatedly claim that evidence had been tampered with.

Speaking on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, the 29-year-old glamour girl - who has posed nude for the ESPN Body Issue - said refusing to have sex before marriage had also made it difficult for her to keep a steady boyfriend.

"This journey has been hard," said Jones. "It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, harder than training for the Olympics. Harder than studying for college has been staying a virgin before marriage."

She said she made the lifestyle decision because sex was "a gift I want to give my husband".

"I've been tempted," Jones added. "I've had guys tell me, 'You know, if you have sex, it will help you run faster.'"

Even with His statement of 'crushed bodies & lost lives' and rumors that His special team reporting to Him that He may lose the 13 GE, I still believe He will win solidly.

But everything seems to fall into place post Bersih 3.0 indicating that He is indeed fearful of losing the 13 GE.

Surveys after surveys giving the same results that His popularity is gaining traction and many voters are returning to His stable. This is true but what we understand is that most surveys were carried out via telephone. I still accept the results and reading from political expert opinion I believe He will win solidly and that is up till the eve of Bersih 3.0

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Ismail said the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 does not allow people to intrude into other people’s territory, and therefore the group should not proceed with its plan.

The UK has changed government 11 times since the date that Malaysia was given independence and in the same period France has had 20 Prime Ministers.

However, during that entire 55 years UMNO/BN has grasped onto power, while at the same time calling Malaysia a democracy.

The result has been predictable.  The few families in power have become ridiculously rich, while paying little attention to the often desperate needs of the rest of the people

So, it is hardly surprising that when BN’s old men start talking about handing over control of government they are thinking in terms of inheritance not elections!
