Bhutan's royal wedding points to end of polygamy

THIMPHU - Bhutan's rare form of polygamy, in which men or women take several sisters or brothers as partners, is dying out as the kingdom modernises, with this week's royal wedding another sign of its demise.

The king, 31-year-old Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, married and crowned Jetsun Pema, the commoner daughter of an airline pilot, on Thursday in a colourful Buddhist ceremony in the ancient capital of Punakha.

In his speech announcing the nuptials in May, Wangchuck made clear that Pema would be his only wife - a distinct departure from his father, who married four sisters in 1979, all of whom were crowned queen in the same ceremony.

Naughty nurses-to-be skip class for sex party

FOUR student nurses who skipped lectures were caught at a wild sex party with their boyfriends at a dormitory of their private college in Klang.

The orgy ended when the college's administration sent a team to gatecrash the party at about 7am on Tuesday, Harian Metro reported.

Two of the girls were half-naked while four men were found hiding in a toilet.

A source said the raid came after several students and lecturers complained to the management about the four would-be-nurses and their antics over the past week.

“One complaint was that the girls often brought men to the dormitory, causing discomfort to other students.”

The four student nurses and their partners were brought to the Bandar Baru Klang police station where they were questioned. The four men were released. The source said the management was conducting an investi- gation into the possibility that the girls involved had turned their dormitory room into a sex den.
