KLANG: NEW details have emerged on the horrors that a 13-year-old girl had to endure at the hands of her caretaker, who had abused her to the point she has to fight for her life.

The girl told hospital staff that her caretaker whom she had called "Amma" (mother in Tamil) had been abusing her for the past few months, but the degree of abuse reached a peak over the last few days before she was admitted to hospital on Friday.
Sources speaking on condition of anonymity revealed that the 40-year-old caretaker had poured boiling water on the girl's chest area on May 2.
Four days later on May 6, the girl related that the caretaker had shoved a mop handle into her mouth and injured the inside of her mouth.
"She then tied the girl to the balcony of the 8th floor apartment before pouring hot water on her from the waist down.
"Even more sadistic was that the caretaker had used a rubber hose to whip the buttocks of the girl while the skin was still raw and peeling as a result of the scalding," sources said.
It is learnt that the caretaker began to panic towards the evening of the same day when the girl, who was not able to walk from her injuries, began to drift in and out of consciousness.
She brought the girl to a children's shelter in Pandamaran whose staff later lodged a police report and the caretaker was arrested.
The girl's condition was said to be improving as she remained in the intensive care unit at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah.
Meanwhile, neighbours and residents in Perdana Villa Apartment in Taman Sentosa here were shocked to find out about the abuse.
A housewife, who declined to be identified, said she had once seen the girl wearing a scarf to cover some of the injuries on her face and forehead at the grocery shop.
She said that residents in the neighbourhood rarely saw the girl, but on each occasion which they did they would notice bruises and marks on her.
"She will say that she fell down or just remain silent," the housewife said.
Some residents also claimed that the caretaker was linked to gangsters in the area.
South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Mat Yusop said police have recorded a statement from the girl but declined to elaborate.
The remand order for the caretaker is expected to expire today.
