PADANG SERAI: Ain't no mountain high enough. A 21-year-old girl from Taman Kenangan, Sungai Karangan here is believed to have run away with her Nepalese lover to Kathmandu, her family said.
Norshahira Mohd Rasul was believed to have left home on Aug 22 to meet a
friend in Sungai Petani. Her father, Mohd Rasul Kassim, a factory bus driver, made a police report a day later after failing to trace his daughter.
"We are very worried because the police informed us our daughter has
followed the Nepalese man back to Kathmandu on Aug 23, from the Penang
International Airport," said Mohd Rasul at his house today.
His daughter had met the man while working at a rubber glove factory in
Padang Meha Industrial Zone, he said.
The family first knew of Norshahira's relationship with the man, known as
Imthias Khan, 24, last year and had tried to break them up by stopping her from going to work and getting the man transferred to another factory.
Norshahira's mother, Siti Fatimah Jasin, 46, is distraught and traumatised
by the incident, especially since Aidilfitri is around the corner.
She was very worried about her daughter's health as Norshahira suffers from
severe abdominal pains due to a ruptured appendix a few years ago which requires medication.
Fatimah said she hoped the 1Malaysia Putera Club or Umno Youth Movement
would help her family with the problem as they did not have the financial or
communication means to look for their daughter
