Police have begun a murder inquiry, but are not looking for any other suspects
A baby boy has died after being found with the body of his father at a house in Lancashire.
Taxi driver Paul McBride, 39, was discovered dead at his mother's house at Marl Hill Crescent in the Ribbleton area of Preston at about 18:15 BST.
His six-month-old son was taken to hospital in a "very poorly condition", but later died.
Lancashire Police said they had been made aware of concerns for Mr McBride's welfare.
Officers and family members had been searching for Mr McBride, and it is believed a female family member found his body.
'Incredibly tragic'
A police spokeswoman said: "On arrival at the house, a man was found dead and a six-month-old boy was in a very poorly condition.
"He was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he sadly died."
Detective Superintendent Neil Esseen, who is leading the investigation, described it as an "incredibly tragic" case.
He said: "It is being treated as a murder inquiry, although we are not looking for anybody else in connection with this incident.
"We are still in the very early stages of this investigation, but we are conducting a number of inquiries in order to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths."
One resident of Marl Hill Crescent said a woman ran from the house "screaming incoherently".
The neighbour added: "She wouldn't go back into the house.
"There were so many ambulance and police around we knew it had to be something terrible.
"Then the baby was taken away in an ambulance."
Another neighbour said: "I knew Paul. He was a happy, jolly type. He was always jokey and loved football.
"He had moved away, so we didn't see much of him any more. His mother is on holiday so I don't even know why he was at the house."
Forensic searches of the property have been made and post-mortem examinations are due to take place on Thursday.
