KANGAR: College student Mohd Hafizuddin Johari is scarred for life.He suffered burns on his face and hands after being splashed with a corrosive liquid, believed to be acid, in front of his rented house in Taman Seri Bakau, here, early on Saturday.
Police are looking for an unemployed 20-year-old to assist in investigations.
Kangar police chief Superintendent Abdul Rahman Mohd Noordin said they believed jealousy was the motive for the attack.
Police believe that both the victim and the suspect, were romantically linked to a 28-year-old, identified as Natasya.
"We have identified the suspect and we believe that he has fled the state," Rahman said.
Speaking to reporters later at the Perlis Media Club, Hafizuddin said he had received numerous threats concerning his relationship with Natasya.
"I did not report the threats as I did not take them seriously.
"There are many who are against our relationship, including my parents.
"However we have decided to leave Perlis and settle down in another state and start our lives together," said Hafizuddin, who works part-time as a catering assistant.
