Fantasy football will take on a whole new meaning for some footy followers when the Ladies Football League laces up in October.
The concept is based on the Lingerie Football League in the US.
Woodend resident Tala Schultz said the first official women's 11-on-11 tackle grid-iron football league will take Australia by storm.
``It (lingerie) adds femininity to the game and just highlights that even hot athletic chicks can hit as hard and run as fast as some of the guys,'' said Schultz, who takes on the football moniker of X Girl.
``I'm not about making a statement about gender. I'm making a statement about the possibility for anyone to perform.
``We want to take on the America women when the Lingerie Football League tour in 2013. We will be ready. Bring it on.''
Schultz said more than 30 athletes had already expressed their interest in the league
The ``beautiful ladies'' will be dressed down in camouflaged lingerie outfits with knee pads, shoulder guards and ice hockey helmets.
Athletes are coming from Ipswich, Gold Coast, Cleveland, Toowoomba and Brisbane for their first training session on Saturday, October 29.
``The majority are studying. There are a couple of lawyers, some studying medicine, others are full time athletes and soccer girls.''
The league will begin with two teams that will go head-to-head, touring southeast Queensland to promote Ladies Football League.
``We're looking forward to it. We've got a lot of support from businesses. I'd like to collaborate with sport community, business and government.''
``It's a very physically demanding sport. If you like pushing your body to the limit then it's perfect. It's not for the faint hearted."
