The tyrant was hastily interred at a secret location with little ceremony.
It was a bleak way for the despot's 42-year reign of terror to finally be consigned to history. The Sahara burial came after Gaddafi's body had been displayed for four days in a warehouse in Misrata.

An investigation has since been launched into a 22-year-old rebel fighter's claims to have fired two shots that killed him.
Only a handful of relatives and officials were at the burial, which was preceded by Muslim prayers.
