A 
driver managed to stare at Death in the eyes when he came out of a car accident only with scratches.

A collision with a taxi had caused the driver's grey Volvo to ram into another truck's rear, slamming numerous steel rods into the Volvo's windscreen, Chinese media reported.

The driver, 24-year-old Yang, told reporters that he threw himself onto the passenger seat when he realised his car was going to crash into the steel rods.

As soon as he threw himself onto the seat, the rods pierced through the windscreen with a roar.


The accident took place on Oct 26 when Yang took out his friend's Volvo for a spin, reports said.


Along the drive, the 24-year-old spotted traffic police at a road block in front and panicked because he was driving a car without a licence plate.


Yang said he drove the car into the opposite lane in a moment of panic and collided with an oncoming taxi.


The impact sent the Volvo flying into the tailend of small goods vehicle that was carrying hundreds of steel rods.


Yang said when everything stopped, steel rods extended all over his head. One missed his face by just a few centimetres.


Yang was sent to the hospital for a check-up and was reported to have suffered only a few scratches.
