Adilanclub: Suspects in gang-rape case to face murder charges: Police

One is a school bus driver, called "Mental" by friends because of his volatile temper. Another is a bus conductor. Others in the group include a vegetable vendor, a gym instructor and a 17-year old who worked as a helper on long distance buses.

NEW DELHI - After spending her evening watching “Life of Pi” in a New Delhi mall, the 23-year-old student and her male companion were looking for a quick lift home when a bus with tinted windows pulled over.

The pair were then subjected to a catalogue of violence and sexual depravity which has evoked comparisons with Anthony Burgess’s novel “A Clockwork Orange” and brought simmering anger over the plight of women to the boil across India.

The Indian news channel NDTV greeted news of her death in the early hours of Saturday in a Singapore hospital with the banner headline “RIP: India’s Daughter", in a reflection of how her plight had moved the nation.

Ever since she was attacked on the night of December 16, the country’s leaders have lined up to offer their prayers and condemn the attack as well as paying for her treatment in Singapore.

AdilanClub: My New Year wish: Leave 'Allah' alone

Unknown | 11:57 PM | | Best Blogger Tips

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

Time flies and we are already at the doorstep of 2013. But time has stood still for three long years since 31 Dec 2009 at the gates of justice. It was on that New Year's Eve that the Judiciary gave a flicker of hope for fundamental liberties when a landmark judgement ruled in favour of the Herald, the Catholic weekly. But the Attorney General fought back and appealed against the decision.

The Court of Appeal has not set a hearing date nor is it likely to do so with any urgency. Justice obtained in one of His Majesty's courts is denied by another one higher up through the use of undue judicial delays in the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya.

My New Year wish is that the Attorney General will do the sensible thing by withdrawing the appeal and let the High Court judgement stand. In doing so, one of the most fundamental civil liberties guaranteed by our Federal Constitution will be restored. So too will our confidence in constitutionalism.

SINGAPORE - The Indian gang-rape victim whose assault in New Delhi triggered nationwide protests died in hospital on Saturday of injuries suffered in the attack, a Singapore hospital treating her said.

“Her vital signs are deteriorating with signs of severe organ failure,” Kelvin Loh, the chief executive of Mount Elizabeth Hospital, said in a statement.

“As of 9pm (1300 GMT) on 28 Dec, the patient’s condition has taken a turn for the worse.

“This is despite doctors fighting for her life including putting her on maximum artificial ventilation support, optimal antibiotic doses as well as stimulants which maximise her body’s capability to fight infections.”

The hospital had informed the victim’s family of her worsening condition and “they are currently by her side to encourage and comfort her", Loh said.

AdilanClub: Veteran Marine Shoots Dead Own Wife – Details ‘Dark, Lonely World’ In Chilling Video

A 10-minute video posted more than a year ago on YouTube makes it clear that former Marine Benjamin Sebena, who has been charged in the shooting death of his wife, a Wauwatosa police officer, left Iraq a profoundly affected man.

"My experiences in Iraq were that of having to watch over 50 of my friends, that are good friends, die. Having to kill people. Having to kill a child who tried to kill me," Sebena says as a camera moves toward him in the back of his church, sitting in his favorite seat, the one in front of a pillar so his back is always covered.

"I was a Marine," Sebena's voice says over the video of him sitting alone and staring downward. He has a crew cut and wears an olive green long-sleeved T-shirt.

"We're trained to kill. We're trained that death is OK. Wasn't trained how to deal with the death, but we're definitely trained to kill."

AdilanClub: "I got so drunk, I didn’t remember having sex"

Unknown | 10:18 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

Life was one big boozy party for nightlife marketer Trina
(all names have been changed),  25 -– non-stop highs, and even one-night stands while she was supposed to be working. She tells JEANNE TAI why she’s done with “party sex”.

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

I’ve worked in the nightlife industry for three years, doing publicity and marketing for the trendiest clubs in town. I’ve not only had my own experiences with “party sex”, but I’ve seen it happen with others as well.

I’ve watched women get plastered, with guys all over them. I’ve seen so-called “friends” letting their drunken girl pals leave the club with men they’ve only just met. I wouldn’t trust a strange guy to take my friend home. But what can you do? Crap happens.

AdilanClub: Sonali Mukherjee - acid attack victim who became a TV millionaire

Unknown | 10:28 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

When Sonali Mukherjee spurned the advances of three of her fellow students, they responded by melting her face with acid.

But rather than hiding herself away, the 27-year-old applied to appear on country's most-watched TV quiz show -- and walked away a millionaire. "If you can stare at a picture of a pretty woman then you can look at my burnt face too," Mukherjee tells AFP in her tiny home in the capital New Delhi.

"It's very easy for victims of acid attacks to swallow poison but I made the choice to stand up and scream and shout against the violence."

The recent gang-rape of a university student on a bus in New Delhi -- which sparked angry protests across the country -- has again shone an uncomfortable spotlight on the levels of violence against women in the country, where sex assaults are often dismissed as mere "eve-teasing".

AdilanClub: GANG RAPE victim recounts ordeal

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

NEW DELHI - An Indian student who was savagely gang-raped has begun to recount her ordeal to police, reports said Sunday, as authorities reacted to violent protests by banning demonstrations in the capital.

The victim, a 23-year-old physiotherapy student who had been battling for her life since the assault a week ago, gave her first statement to police late Saturday in the New Delhi hospital where she is being treated.

"All six men took turns to sexually assault me," the Hindustan Times newspaper quoted the victim as saying to police.

"They threw us on the side of the road where I then fainted," she added.

Her answers to the questioning appeared to confirm most of the details that officers had already managed to piece together from a statement by her 28-year-old male companion who was also assaulted and thrown off the vehicle.

AdilanClub: Video shows girl, 15, battered in Florida juvenile prison

Unknown | 2:54 AM | | | Best Blogger Tips

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

A guard at a juvenile prison found herself behind bars this week after she was caught on tape battering a teenage detainee.

Although the encounter got Shannon Linn Abbott arrested, it didn’t get her fired. The 33-year-old bailed out and was back on the job right afterward and supervising children, to the extreme dismay of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

On Tuesday, a DJJ administrator formally asked the privately managed youth prison’s director to remove the guard from all access to children.

“It is our expectation, at the very least, that this staff member will have no contact with youth in any of our programs,” wrote Laura K. Moneyham, a DJJ assistant secretary.

The incident marks the third time in recent years that workers at a Florida juvenile justice lockup have been videotaped while abusing or neglecting a child in state custody.

AdilanClub: Umno is 'cursed' with Rosmah: She'll have to take all the blame for GE13 - BUT WILL SHE?

Unknown | 11:07 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

When BN lost its long-held two-thirds majority of seats in Parliament, many blamed Khairy Jamaluddin and his father-in-law Abdullah Badawi, who was then the prime minister and president of UMNO, the dominant party in the ruling coalition.

None of the UMNO-BN leaders and supporters would admit that it performed badly because it had become rotten to the core, eroded and corroded by corruption, greed and infighting. No, UMNO members who were used to decades of 'lording' it had to find a 'mega-scapegoat'. There was no talk at all of self-examination, self-review or self-cleansing and rejuvenation. From branch to division to the central leadership, UMNO leaders screamed for blood - it was not their fault and someone would have to take the blame.

And that person was Badawi, who to be fair did very little but nap at meetings while his son-in-law called the shots and allegedly scurried away a handsome fortune. But the point here is the blame game - this is how UMNO cleanses itself. It only knows how to sweep dirt under the carpet and that's why it continues to stay dirt-filled and infectious. So when the next crisis comes, Malaysians should not be shocked if UMNO ferrets out another 'scapegoat', no matter how highly-placed that person might now be.

AdilanClub: Speaker's sex scandal: Did Laura Ong have ANOTHER LOVER?

Unknown | 2:14 AM | | | Best Blogger Tips

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

THE plot on the fall of former People's Action Party MP Michael Palmer thickened yesterday as it emerged that the woman he had an affair with was concurrently dating another man.

Former People's Association staffmember Laura Ong, 33, was in a serious relationship with logistics manager Andy Lim, even as she was seeing Mr Palmer, The Straits Times has learnt from sources close to her.

Mr Palmer had announced he was quitting as MP and PAP member at a press conference on Wednesday, after admitting to the affair.

Mr Lim, who is in his early 30s, now finds himself at the centre of speculation that Mr Palmer may have decided to resign as MP after a third party sent compelling evidence of his extramarital relationship to a news outlet and possibly other individuals.

AdilanClub: Once a fighter, S'pore boxer now in a coma

Unknown | 3:41 AM | | | Best Blogger Tips

AdilanClub:Breaking news, is the best for news

SINGAPORE - Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Shahril Salim turned 22 on Tuesday.

To celebrate, his family and friends bought not one, but two chocolate cakes.

But instead of blowing out the candles at a boisterous party, he lay unconscious on a hospital bed at Singapore General Hospital.

Although his eyes open and his fingers curl into tight fists intermittently, Mr Shahril is still in a coma, explains his 29-year-old brother Jufri Salim.

"He may look like he's awake, but he doesn't respond clearly when you speak to him or ask him questions. Doctors are not sure about whether or not the movements are his way of expressing himself or due to involuntary reflexes.

"We didn't sing the birthday song because we weren't sure about how he would feel about us celebrating while he's in this state," Mr Jufri says quietly.

One cake was for the doctors and nurses who have been caring for him the past month. The other, which carried a photo of him in training gear, was for his family and friends, who celebrated in a solemn mood.
