A series of garish and violent photographs claiming to be leaked from a gangster's mobile phone have become an online sensation, attracting nearly 5million hits.

The collection of snaps were anonymously uploaded to an image website under the heading 'Pics from a Chinese gangster's phone'.

In the album, a young but portly Chinese man shows off his love for stacks of cash, German sports cars, parading around topless and dishing out savage beatings.
