JOHOR BARU, March 14 — Police have arrested four people, including a woman, in connection with the kidnap and murder of Nurul Nadirah Abdullah, whose charred remains were found in an oil palm estate in Masai on March 8, a week after she went missing.
Local media reports quoted Johor police chief Datuk Mokhtar Shariff as saying that three of those arrested were drug addicts and two have previous records for drug offences and kidnapping.
“The three drug addicts were found positive of methamphetamine and ice. They are between 30- and 40-years old. At the same time, we are still waiting [for] the chemist’s report,” Mokhtar was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times.
The daily reported sources as saying that two of the suspects, who lived at a unit across from Nadirah’s, have held a grudge against the victim’s family since moving in there in December last year. One source said a feud may be the motive for the kidnapping and murder.
“We still do not know the motive for the incident,” The Star quoted Mokhtar as saying after the police chief visited Nadirah’s family at the Seri Delima flats, Bandar Seri Alam in Pasir Gudang yesterday.
He said the suspects led police to the location of the body. The police later matched the DNA with Nadirah’s mother, 25-year-old Roselyn Alan.
The five-year-old went missing on March 1 after going alone to a grocery store near her flat to buy some instant noodles.
