Nicole Jacques |
A former Montgomery County church schoolteacher has been arrested and charged with having sex with a 15-year-old student from the school, Hatfield Township police said today.
Police Chief Mark A. Toomey said Nicole Jacques, 25, of the 2000 block of Maple Avenue in the township, was being held on numerous charges of inappropriate and illegal contact with the boy.
Toomey said Jacques met the boy when she worked as a teacher at Calvary Baptist School in Lansdale. After Jacques quit in 2011, she continued to see the boy, and their relationship became sexual, Toomey alleged.
He said the sexual encounters occurred at Jacques' apartment.
On Feb. 10, the boy's father went to police complaining about the trysts.
Hatfield police investigated and established, with the help of school officials, that no illegal behavior had occurred while Jacques was employed by the school.
Jacques is accused of 20 counts each of involuntary sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault and corruption of a minor. She also is charged with 10 counts of unlawful contact with a minor.
Jacques was arraigned on Monday before District Judge Harry J. Nesbit III and remanded to Montgomery County prison when she could not make $50,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for April 4 before District Judge Kenneth Deatelhauser.
