Captured ... 'first picture' of Saif al-Islam after his arrest

MAD Dog Colonel Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam relaxes in custody following his capture in Libya's southern desert.

It is thought he was held alongside four armed male aides on Friday night as they attempted to smuggle the dead tyrant's heir-apparent across the border into Niger after nearly three months on the run.
The image appears to show bandages around at least three of his fingers as he reclines on a bed. He later explained that he had been injured in a NATO air strike a month ago.
His convoy was hit as he fled the pro-Gaddafi stronghold of Bani Walid on October 19 - the day before his father was apparently executed in Sirte.

Najib's 28-year-old son stirs up a tsunami in the stock market

Unknown | 3:58 AM | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Shares in once-ailing timber firm, Harvest Court Industries Bhd, rose to a nine-year high Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, the 28-year-old son of Prime Minister Najib Razak, emerged as a shareholder in the company.

The stock jumped 30.5 sen to RM1.18 on Tuesday, while the warrants rose by 30 sen a piece to close at RM1.05. The PN17 status slapped on Harvest since December 2009 was finally lifted the end of October, 2011.
"Market thrives on speculation and it is no harm for retailers to take a punt or two but be very careful, especially when it comes to PN17 or ailing firms revived solely by political interest," a research director at a large brokerage told Malaysia Chronicle.
"Scomi shares had also jumped miraculously when Abdullah Badawi was taking over from Mahathir Mohamad. But there are no such things as guaranteed profits. Cronies and the families of the political leaders should actually refrain from using their status to drive up speculative interest in their stock. This is not bad practice."

Son's final cig before death

Unknown | 3:14 AM | | | Best Blogger Tips

GADDAFI'S son Muatassim is pictured shortly before he died smoking a cigarette and swigging a bottle of water in images released yesterday.

Muatassim, 37 — a senior army officer — appears to be in a hospital after being captured by rebels.
However soon afterwards he is seen lying dead on a stretcher, shot through the neck and abdomen. The pictures raise questions over how Muatassim died after being captured alive.
Another of Mad Dog's sons, heir apparent Saif al-Islam, 39, was last night believed still to be on the run.
He is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
Two more sons — Saif al-Arab and Khamis — have been killed in the conflict. Saif, 29, died in a Nato bombing raid on Tripoli while Khamis, 28, perished in fighting near the capital in August.
Mad Dog's remaining four children appear to be safe after fleeing Libya.
Ex-footballer Saadi, 38, went to Niger where he is still in hiding.
Sons Hannibal, 36, and Mohammed, 41, and daughter Aisha, 34, are all in Algeria after they were given refuge by the government there alongside Gaddafi's wife Safia.

Son accused of rape, mother paraded naked

Unknown | 6:10 PM | | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

A middle aged woman was allegedly paraded naked in northwest Pakistan on the instigation of a tribal council that found her son guilty of rape.

The woman was allegedly disrobed by four armed men and paraded in the streets of Neelor Bala village near Haripur in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province ea rlier this month.

Police confirmed the report and arrested three members of the jirga, The Express Tribune newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in the wake of a woman in Neelor Bala becoming pregnant while her husband was away in Lahore.

She accused two local men of having raped her. The woman's husband took the matter to the village jirga headed by Basheer Abbasi and Raqeeb on June 8.

The tribal council decided that the woman should immediately divorce her husband and the two men accused of rape should be punished. The man forced his wife to file for divorce.

After returning home, the husband of the woman and his three brothers reached the house of one of the men accused of rape and dragged his mother on to the streets.

They beat the mother with rifle butts and allegedly paraded her naked.

Police said the matter was brought to their notice by some rights activists and they registered a case against the council members.

Civil society organisations condemned the incident and offered the victims legal and moral support.

In January, another woman of Basti Wah Deen village in Vehari was gang-raped and stripped naked by landlords for refusing a marriage proposal.
