The maid leaving the house, escorted by a policeman and a policewoman

Police have rescued a Cambodian maid who was locked up in a double-storey house in Pandan Indah in Kuala Lumpur for nearly a week.
The maid, 18, was left with little food by her employers, who are believed to be on holiday.
Teratai state assembly representative Jenice Lee said the girl's plight caught the attention of the neighbours, who passed her food through the grilled windows.

"Her employers were believed to have left the house on Saturday. The couple locked the maid in the house with instant noodles, rice and eggs," said Lee, whose assistants were tipped by the neighbours on Friday.
Police, who arrived in two cars at the Pandan Indah house, broke open the locks at about 4pm.
The maid was taken to the Pandan Indah police station where her statement was recorded. She was later sent to the hospital.
Describing the incident as "inhumane", Lee said the maid was put in a dangerous position as she would have no escape in the event of a calamity like fire.
"The maid does not have the contact numbers of her employers and neither does she know when theys will return."
"She has alleged that she has been mistreated by her employers, but so far we have no proof until the results of the medical examination is out," said Lee.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Amiruddin Jamaluddin said: "When we arrived at the scene, we found the woman locked inside, and she had no way of getting out.”
