BN hasn’t won over young voters yet, says Khir Toyo

Unknown | 3:10 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

SHAH ALAM, April 9 — The Najib administration has yet to win over young voters as cash handouts and goodies from the government have not benefited them, Dr Mohd Khir Toyo has said.

The former Selangor mentri besar said while cash handouts did generate a “feel-good factor” among Malaysians, it was only felt and appreciated by voters above the age of 50.

Anwar says wants BN to stop personal attacks

Unknown | 2:50 PM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Anwar speaking in the comfort of his home on January 9, 2012
after his acquittal by the High Court
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today told Datuk Seri Najib Razak and other Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders to cease what he said were personal attacks against him and his family, saying that political debate should be restricted to policy matters.
He pointed out that he had now been declared innocent by the High Court, and he wanted the attacks against him to stop.
The court today acquitted Anwar of a charge of sodomising his former male aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
Judge Datuk Mohd Zabidin Mohd Diah ruled that the prosecution had not done enough to prove Anwar had committed sodomy against Saiful.

‘BN has everything to lose no matter the verdict’

Unknown | 4:44 PM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Bersih 2.0 chairperson S Ambiga is of the view Monday's verdict will be a judgement on the justice system.
Monday’s verdict on Anwar Ibrahim’s Sodomy II case will also be a  judgement on the ‘whole justice system’ and regardless of which way the decision goes, it would be a loss for Barisan Nasional, said Bersih chairperson S Ambiga.
“As a lawyer, I am very concerned about the way in which this case has proceeded particularly in the light of the evidence produced.”

BN may lose GE-13 if ISA issue not resolved, says police chief

Unknown | 3:19 PM | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Barisan Nasional may lose the next general election if the ruling coalition does not tackle issues surrounding the Internal Security Act (ISA), says top cop Tan Sri Ismail Omar.
The Inspector-General of Police wrote this in a book that was published before Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced plans to repeal the security law last week.
In the book titled “1 Malaysia Menjana Negara Sejahtera dan Bahagia Menjelang 2020”, Ismail said the law, introduced in 1960, would continue to be a hotly-debated political issue, increasing support for the opposition.

Sept 16: A BN mole upset the Pakatan takeover in 2008

Unknown | 2:01 PM | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Three years since the watershed General Elections on Sat 8, Mar 2008, it’s clear that Sept 16 in a future year will be the pivotal date for Sabah and Sarawak to win back their rights and freedom enshrined, inter alia, in the 1963 Malaysia Agreement.
The first shots were fired in the weeks and months running up to Sept 16, 2008 when it appeared with increasing certainty that this would be the moment when Sabah and Sarawak would be the proverbial tail wagging the dog.
Alas, it was not to be.

Koh wanted Gerakan out of BN

Unknown | 3:05 AM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon (pix) had wanted to pull the party out of Barisan Nasional (BN) three years ago after some Umno members desecrated his picture.
Party secretary-general Teng Chang Yeow said six to seven Gerakan leaders met on the night of Sept 8, 2008 after the former chief minister's picture was removed from the wall of an Umno division and torn into pieces during a press conference.
Teng said he was at the party pow-wow and Koh, like others present, was very angry.

Anyone who disgrees with BN is a criminal or a traitor

Unknown | 5:48 PM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Indeed the PM’s not so long ago war cry that UMNO will fight at all cost – even over crushed bodies and broken bones - to remain in power, is increasingly being observed to the letter. Today, Malaysians are being inundated with all kinds of threats, intimidation and strong-arm tactics to a point where we cannot anymore differentiate truth from lies.
And when truth and lies become clouded with political party priorities and ambitions, a society collapses into the trenches of socio-political and economic failures. The beneficiaries will of course be only those who wield control over the masses.

Watch out BN, the revolt of the middle class will be awesome

Unknown | 2:55 AM | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

We were told that there was no need for Bersih 2.0, that the country has always had free and fair elections. The Election Commission claims that its rolls are clean and there is not a single phantom voter. But in the weeks after the historic Bersih 2.0 rally evidence have surfaced to show how critical election reforms are needed. Not only are the electoral rolls filled with irregularities, there appear to be an organized scam going on to defraud Malaysian voters.
Dead voters, phantom voters, dozens of voters sharing one address, permanent residents, instant citizenship voters, clone voters and more – all these have been discovered in the rolls. The EC defends itself by saying there is no 100% clean rolls in the world but then there must be few that are as dirty as Malaysia’s.

Unsolicited and free insight on BN's options

Unknown | 11:08 AM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

These past three years since, BN has been fast sliding down the road of political survival. Hence today it is very evident that BN has gone on the defensive with the ‘opposition’ coalition party trenching into an offensive advantage.
Why?
The problem is the leaders and power brokers within the BN army have been operating from an out-dated mindset for far too long. They failed to grasp the revolution taking place within societies with Malaysia being no exception in this globalizing and networked society.

Anwar: BN bent on jailing me before elections

Unknown | 9:27 PM | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said the Barisan Nasional government was bent on ensuring he would not contest the next general election by convicting him on fabricated charges of sodomy.

“They would convict me before the elections, to deny me participating in the elections,” he said in an interview with Phillipine's The Philippine Star.

BN season for racial, religious politicking begins: DU church raided

Unknown | 12:19 AM | | | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

It looks like the season for racial and religious politicking has begun. Prime Minister Najib Razak has given it the flag-off as his UMNO party looks to draw Malay voters closer to its fold ahead of snap general elections widely expected to be held within the October-November period.
Police and the religious authorities in Selangor, a state which Najib is under tremendous pressure to regain, raided a multi-racial dinner held at Dream Centre building, which also houses the Damansara Utama Methodist Church, based on a vague complaint. The building has many dinner event and seminar rooms apart from the ccordinchurch hall.

Malaysians, Arise: BN is cheating us of our voting rights. Stop them NOW

Unknown | 11:20 PM | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

In response to Bersih, the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections, the Election Commission has stridently maintained that its voter rolls are clean and elections are conducted in a free and fair manner. Prime Minister Najib has also gone around saying there is no need for Bersih because elections are always free and fair in Malaysia. Right thinking Malaysians know better and have learned to discount these platitudes with a smirk.
Now we have further proof that elections in Malaysia are anything but free and fair. In fact the 13th general election may be the dirtiest ever. PAS has uncovered hard evidence of a plot to stuff the electoral rolls with foreigners given instant citizenship. It is breathtaking in its audacity and totally unconscionable in disregarding social consequences. Is BN so desperate to win that it is willing to barter the future of the country for another stint in power?

Silence of the voices of female BN leaders

Unknown | 1:09 AM | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

From Female Voter, via e-mail
I read with great interest the developments of the MIC AGM which took place recently in Putrajaya. It was rife with political rhetoric  which was dutifully picked up by most of the mainstream media. I noted that the chest-thumping antics of the power hungry men got the most attention, not unlike the display of power prevalent in the animal kingdom. Sadly, I was dismayed by the stereotypical depiction of the women leaders of MIC who modeled the latest 1Malaysia saree which took four weeks to make as reported in the Star (Aug 1, 2011).
There were only two women in the photograph depicting the leaders in the agenda-setting Central Working Committee. The sole woman quoted was Wanita chief Komala Krishna Moorthy who elaborated on the specifics of the 1Malaysia saree. She was not quoted talking about the agenda for MIC or her thoughts on MIC’s strategies for the next general election. The president alone made these comments and observations which the mainstream media captured faithfully for its earnest readers.

PETALING JAYA: Indian-based pro-Barisan Nasional (BN) parties are up in arms over G Palanivel’s announcement that only MIC has the legitimate right to represent the community in the BN.

BN dry runs show Pakatan can win Perak, Negri Sembilan

Unknown | 4:35 PM | | | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

The ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) could lose Perak and Negri Sembilan in the next general elections, according to results of a recent dry run. Unless component parties put popular faces and ensure the grassroots machinery garner support from voters.
It is understood that the Umno election dry run also showed that the BN fortress of Johor could see up to 15 out of the 56 state seats go to their political opponents Pakatan Rakyat (PR), something unheard before Election 2008 when the ruling coalition lost six seats.
It is also learnt that Perlis, where BN holds 14 out of the 15 state seats, could see several state and one of the three federal seats going to PR due to anger over Putrajaya putting Wahhabi preachers including state mufti Dr Juanda Jaya on a terror watch list.
