“We just hope it is the police and not Taib’s people”, one of Peter’s friends observed today. It was a comment that sums up the mistrust and fear in Sarawak.

The truth is that this afternoon no one can be sure what has happened to Peter John Jaban, known as Papa Orang Utan by listeners of the Radio Station Radio Free Sarawak.

He was flagged down from his car on the way from Miri airport into town at around 11am by 3 men travelling in another vehicle.  He went quietly, we presume on the assumption that they were from the authorities.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 — A highly-confidential government document on the Malaysian Navy’s evaluation of the Scorpene submarines it planned to buy was sold by Terasasi (Hong Kong) Ltd to French defence giant DCNS for €36 million (RM142 million), a lawyer involved in an ongoing inquiry has revealed.

Abdul Razak Baginda, a former think-tank head who was at the centre of a 2006 investigation into the murder of Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu, is listed as a director of Terasasi with his father, Abdul Malim Baginda.

A WOMAN who has confessed to bestiality committed the crime out of sexual naivety, a forensic psychologist says.

In South Australia's District Court today, Allen Fugler gave evidence about the behaviour of Tina Marion Reichelt in the two months leading to her November 2009 arrest for having sex with a dog.

Reichelt, 53, her husband Garry Paul Reichelt, 51, and Kathleen Modystack, 58, have pleaded guilty to one count each of bestiality.

However, the feisty Chin Xin-Ci put up a fight and jumped out of the moving car just as it was exiting the car park.

Recounting the harrowing experience on her Facebook account, she wrote that she was loading her shopping bags onto the backseat of her boyfriend's car when the incident took place at about 5.20pm on Sunday.

She was on her own that day.

"Suddenly, the rear car door was slammed against my back and a meat cleaver was pressed against my throat," she wrote.

KUALA LUMPUR: The pro-tem committee members of Indian Rights Action Front (Indraf 2.0) today held a rally to call upon all political parties to look into pressing matters concerning the Indian community and to urge them to provide a solution for Malaysian Indians.

Organised by NGO Malaysian Indian-Voice (MI-V), the rally attracted about 3,000 people to the Girl Guides Hall in Brickfields.

The rally was backed by Pakatan Rakyat and helmed by DAP leader and Penang Deputy Chief Minister P Ramasamy. Other Indraf pro-tem committee members are V Ganabatirao, R Kengadharan and Thasleem Mohd Ibrahim.

Ganabatirao and Kengadharan were part of the Hindraf (Hindu Rights Action Force) five who were arrested under the Internal Security Act in the aftermath of the Nov 25, 2007 rally.

Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and Rembau PKR chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin were today charged with taking part in an illegal rally under section 4(2)(c) of the Peaceful Assembly Act, which states that “a person commits an offence if he organises or participates in a street protest.”
