KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Bar was today told that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had instructed  senior lawyer Cecil Abraham to prepare the second statutory declaration for former private investigator P Balasubramaniam.

Balasubramaniam’s lawyer Americk Sidhu revealed this during the ongoing  Malaysian Bar’s annual general meeting (AGM) today, where Balasubramaniam’s SD2 was one of the motions tabled to be discussed.

PKR vice president R Sivarasa tweeted: “Americk Singh Sidhu, PI Bala’s lawyer reveals in Bar AGM that Cecil Abraham told him he did the 2nd SD on instructions from PM Najib.”

Americk, who drafted the Balasubramaniam’s SD I, later confirmed the statement.

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim may come face to face with Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak at a Chinese New Year open house in Kajang tomorrow — and deliver highly charged political speeches.

The event is organised by Dong Zong, a Chinese education pressure group.

Anwar today said he would not avoid meeting Najib if both were to share the same stage at the gathering.

Both Najib and Anwar have agreed to attend the event.

It is strange that Deepak can continue to make damning and incriminating statements about Najib and Rosmah in relation to Altantunya’s horrific murder and nothing happens. What is even more surprising is that nothing is happening to this carpet trader, typically an easy target to demonstrate power and Ketuanan Melayu by all and sundry in Umno and its servants such as the police, MACC and  Perkasa.

It is also odd that ex-IGP Musa can suddenly “expose” home minister Hishamudin and the current IGP’s  illegal actions and the police’s links with the under world, and again nothing happens. Musa, who would have been thrashed and trashed if he had acted thus under Mahathir’s rule, is continuing to enjoy a free and easy retirement and his exposure of Hishamudin and the current IGP continues.

KUALA LUMPUR, August 4 ― Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has written to Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat requesting for a state representative to discuss oil royalty payments for the state, PAS’ Harakah Daily reported today.

Nik Aziz told the daily that the letter was received by his personal secretary Rosdi Mohamad.

However, he said state officials will consult the Kelantan Sultan before deciding to send his representative.

‘Foolish’ if Najib bans Bersih 3.0, say analysts

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — Political analysts believe the authorities will not come down hard on Bersih 3.0 protesters like they did last year, saying it would be an “unbelievably foolish” strategy by Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

They agreed that any show of muscle to stop the April 28 protest could spell political suicide for Najib and his team, pointing out that the 13th general election was too close for the prime minister to risk bleeding more support.

Najib: ‘Don’t listen to opposition’

BERUAS: Barisan Nasional chairman Najib Tun Razak reminded the people here today not to ‘rely’ on opposition stories, alleging that “they (the opposition) seem to be in chaos’.

“The opposition’s stories cannot be relied upon because they don’t have the capacity to administer the country efficiently. Even now they seem to be in chaos.

“So, don’t listen to them (opposition) if they come,” he said in his speech at the programme “Sepagi Bersama Perdana Menteri” (One Morning With The Prime Minister) at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Changkat Beruas field, here.

Najib says would debate with ‘responsible’ leaders

KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak expressed today his readiness to participate in a debate but stressed his opponent must be “reasonable” and not prone to raising “conspiracy theories” to win an argument.

The prime minister reminded that the country’s diversity could easily be turned into a “fatal weakness” if political leaders choose provocation over responsibility and fail to restrain themselves during such debates.

“And it worries me that far too many who say they want to lead Malaysia are unable to restrain themselves when they are engaged in debate,” he said in his blog today, without naming any individual.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 — Voters in Kelantan were today promised sweeping improvements to their economy and infrastructure by the Barisan Nasional (BN) if they were to put the coalition back in charge of the state it lost in 1990, Bernama Online reported.

“We pledge to make over the landscape but the changes will be based on strong Islamic values and principles,” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was quoted as saying in the report.

Among the developments that would be derived under BN rule, said Najib, were upgrades to the water supply system, housing, and other forms of basic amenities.

Speaking in Jeli today, the prime minister told attendees that an administration needed more than just an Islamist foundation to govern the Muslim community successfully.

“We are not just talking about the importance of a strong akidah (faith), but Muslims also need to have sound akhlak (moral values) and be knowledgeable,” he was quoted further by Bernama Online.

“Sloganeering alone does not make Muslims strong.”

Najib later announced a RM1 million fund to set up an Islamic centre at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan.

It was Prime Minister Najib Razak who selected a company owned by the family of Umno minister Shahrizat Jalil to be awarded the NFC cattle breeding project, whilst his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin endorsed the decision in his then capacity as Agriculture minister in 2006.

Najib, apart from heading the selection committee which also picked Lambert Sdn Bhd for a slice of the NFC project, also came under fire for not considering Felda, the national land resettlement scheme that falls under his direct supervision.

“The anchor company selection committee for the NFC was chaired by Datuk Seri Najib Razak. Anwar wants debate with Najib after trading blows on economic policies

Opposition Leader Anwar had said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal the prime minister’s policies benefited cronies despite embarking on an economic reform programme.

Pekan's senior citizens see Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak as a man who 'will never understand what it means to stand up for what he believes in'.

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s Pekan parliamentary constituency is picturesquesly located on the banks of the Pahang River, some 50km south of Kuantan. Pekan is Pahang’s royal town and although its name is derived from a flower, the Bunga Pekan, the floral analogies end here. There is a sense of loss and loneliness not dissimilar to a feeling of malaise lethargy.

“There is nothing much to do here..” said 49-year-old Johari Mat she, stiffling a yawn.

On a balmy dusty afternoon like this one, Pekan does somewhat elicit regular yawns that leaves an odd earthy taste in the mouth.

“I have heard from KL people like you that Pekan has seen a lot of change in the last 10 years or so. I always ask them back, ‘Where (is the change)?’” asked Johari.

Najib's 28-year-old son stirs up a tsunami in the stock market

Shares in once-ailing timber firm, Harvest Court Industries Bhd, rose to a nine-year high Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, the 28-year-old son of Prime Minister Najib Razak, emerged as a shareholder in the company.

The stock jumped 30.5 sen to RM1.18 on Tuesday, while the warrants rose by 30 sen a piece to close at RM1.05. The PN17 status slapped on Harvest since December 2009 was finally lifted the end of October, 2011.

"Market thrives on speculation and it is no harm for retailers to take a punt or two but be very careful, especially when it comes to PN17 or ailing firms revived solely by political interest," a research director at a large brokerage told Malaysia Chronicle.

"Scomi shares had also jumped miraculously when Abdullah Badawi was taking over from Mahathir Mohamad. But there are no such things as guaranteed profits. Cronies and the families of the political leaders should actually refrain from using their status to drive up speculative interest in their stock. This is not bad practice."
