KIEV - An 18-year old Ukrainian girl died Thursday almost three weeks after suffering a gang rape attack by youths which has become one of the country's most notorious crimes of recent years.

Oksana Makar was raped by three young men, strangled, burned alive and then left for dead in the attack in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolayiv on March 10, prosecutors have said.

The victim was found by a passer-by after she was dumped by her attackers, reportedly at a construction site. She was hospitalised with 55 per cent burns in a critical condition which forced the amputation of her feet, an arm and a leg.

Health officials and police in Long Beach, California, in the US, are trying to determine how an 11-year-old girl died after getting into a fight with another girl over a boy.

Joanna Ramos, a fifth grader at Willard Elementary School, died Friday night in the hospital after complaining of a headache.

"She was so nice to me; she was like a sister to me," said classmate Stephanie Soltero, crying.

A 62-year-old woman, Madam Aminah Adom, 62, died on the spot.

Her husband, Haji Mohd Yasin Husin, 75, who was driving, and their Indonesian maid, Ms Suriati, 30, died in Kemaman Hospital, Terengganu.

His granddaughter, Nor Istiharah, 12, died while being transferred from Kemaman Hospital to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan, Pahang.

The only survivor was Nor Istiharah's 17-year-old brother, Taufik Hidayat.

Mr Mohd Yasin's son and nephew told The New Paper that he was used to long drives and often went on road trips to Malaysia with his family.

But at Kemaman, about 100km from their destination of Kuala Terengganu in the north-east state of Terengganu, his car skidded and hit a barrier at the side of the road.

As the car spun, an oncoming vehicle smashed into it.

Man swallows dentures during sex and dies

A 74-YEAR-OLD man died after he accidentally swallowed his dentures during sex with a 62-year-old prostitute in Taiwan, reported Nanyang Siang Pau.

The man, known as Chen, had been living with a close female friend in New Taipei City after separating from his wife many years ago.

The prostitute said she had sex with Chen for 30 minutes.

She said Chen had got up from the bed, paid her and was about to put on his clothes when he suddenly collapsed.

"He fell back onto the bed. His eyes were open but he was not moving although I shook his body and tried to wake him up," said the woman, who called the rescue team.

Chen was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Doctors later found his dentures stuck in his throat.

Boy dies in Beijing escalator tragedy: State media

BEIJING - A nine-year-old boy died instantly after he got stuck in an escalator at a Beijing department store as horrified shoppers looked on, Chinese state media said on Sunday.

The unaccompanied child stretched his neck out and became jammed between the moving escalator and the floor, the Xinhua news agency said, citing a publicity official from the capital’s Xicheng district.

KL hostage drama ends, ex-convict dies

A 34-year-old man with a previous conviction for armed robbery, who barged into a house in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur and took a 10-year-old girl hostage Monday, was shot by the police and died later in hospital.

The girl was unharmed.

Relating the ordeal, the girl's father, Shafrudin Marlis, 47, said that he, his wife and three children were watching TV at about 11am, when a half-naked man stormed into their home at Lorong Raja Muda Musa 6 and grabbed a knife from the kitchen.

BEIJING - A Chinese toddler who was ignored by 18 passers-by as she lay critically injured in the street after being run over by two vehicles has died, the hospital treating her said Friday.

Surveillance camera footage of people walking past the two-year-old girl, nicknamed Yue Yue, as she lay bleeding and unconscious sparked a wave of condemnation and soul-searching on China’s popular social networking sites.

A rubbish collector who finally moved the girl to the side of the street in the southern Chinese city of Foshan was hailed as a hero, but the incident also led many online commentators to question the state of Chinese morality.

“Yue Yue died of systemic organ failure,” a spokesman from the hospital treating her told AFP, adding that no expense had been spared to try to save the girl, whose parents are migrant workers.

Woman dies after being crushed by falling woman

SINGAPORE - Not one, but two bodies were found at the foot of a block in Bishan St 13 in the freakiest of accidents that occurred on Monday.

It is believed that Madam Lau Fong Kien (left inset), 55, had been crushed by a falling woman, Madam Ng Sock Luan (right inset), 48, at the bottom of her block, reported The New Paper.

Madam Lau, who was diagnosed with stage-one breast cancer a few years ago, survived the disease but did not survive being crushed. It is believed that no one saw the incident.

Polytechnic student, 19, dies after choking on orange

SINGAPORE - A 19-year-old Nanyang Polytechnic student died on Tuesday, three days after choking on two slices of orange and losing consciousness.

The incident occured last Saturday morning (Sept 3) at 7am . According to Wanbao, the student, Ailsie Lee Qiao Qi, was at home - a condominium in Choa Chu Kang - when she choked on the orange slices and fainted.

A 16-year-old boy is Brazil reportedly died after masturbating too much.

He was allegedly to have masturbated more than 40 times throughout the night last month and was found dead by his mother in the morning.

The woman said she had planned to bring her son for sexual addiction treatment, but it was too late.

According to the teenager's classmates, the boy was "highly addicted" to sex and was always fascinated about women in all body shapes and ages.

S'porean who fled to M'sia dies under detention

A Singaporean man facing death penalty in Malaysia has died after complaining of abdominal pain, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Lai Poh Yong, 63, was picked up by Johor police in January for drug offences. He was transferred on Monday from Air Molek Prison to a hospital where he died the next day. He is believed to have died of bacterial infection.

Lai had been jailed in Singapore for over 10 years before he came to Malaysia, a friend told reporters at the morgue on Tuesday.

He also said Lai had left Singapore 11 years ago to evade the police there, but no details were given.

It is also not clear why Lai was wanted by Singapore authorities.

Lai's body would be taken back to Singapore after an autopsy. He leaves behind a wife and two teenage children.

Transgender Aleesha dies; candlelight vigil

KUALA TERENGGANU - Mohd Ashraf Hafiz Abdul Aziz, 25, who failed to have a name change to Aleesha Farhana after undergoing a sex change operation in Thailand, has died at the intensive care unit of Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah.

Bernama reported that the patient was admitted to the hospital at 3am on Thursday after experiencing heart problems and low blood pressure and died at 5am on Saturday.

Amy Winehouse Dies of Drug Overdose

Troubled, Grammy-winning singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her North London home, Sky News is reporting. The Daily Mail reports that police have confirmed the passing.

In a statement, the London Metropolitan Police said, “Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.”

Mum dies after boob job in Poland

A MUM died after flying to Poland for a cut-price £4,800 boob job and tummy tuck, an inquest heard.

Freda Heath, 58, collapsed just hours after the op suffering what is believed to have been a major stroke.

She died less than 24 hours later at Marciniak Hospital in Wroclaw, an inquest at Dover Coroner's Court was told.

Consultant pathologist Dr Matthias Koslowski, who performed a post mortem, said it was possible she suffered a reaction to the anaesthetic.

Titiwangsa MP Dr Lo’ Lo’ dies of cancer

PETALING JAYA: Titiwangsa MP Dr Lo’Lo’ Mohd Ghazali of PAS died at about 10.25pm today after suffering from breast cancer.

A tweet message, sent out from her twitter account by an admin at 10.28pm, read: “Dr Lo’ Lo’ has just breathed her last moments ago.”

This was confirmed by PAS Dewan Muslimat chief Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff, who is also the Rantau Panjang MP.

SMSes sent out to PAS members are saying that her remains will be taken to the Masjid Al-Akram in Dato Keramat for prayers at 8am tomorrow.

Lo’Lo’ had undergone treatment at the Selayang Hospital and was in a critical condition earlier today.

The news of Lo’Lo’s death made its round in the micro-blogging twitter site earlier today afternoon but her family had denied the news, stating that the parliamentarian was in critical condition and seeking treatment in Selayang Hospital.

Even Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim had tweeted at about 2pm about her death. He later retracted his tweet and apologised to her family.

The first term MP won the Titiwangsa seat in 2008.

While her seat will be declared vacant now, there will however be no by-election as the Parliament has served its three-year mandate. PAS will have to nominate someone to look after this constituency until the next general election.

Two-Year-Old Dies After Being Left in a Sweltering Van By Daycare Staff

A two-year-old girl was found dead in a day care center van after staff left her inside for two hours in the sweltering afternoon sun.

Jasmine Green is thought to have fallen asleep between the seats on the ride back from a field trip to Chuck E. Cheese in Jonesboro, Georgia.

When the children arrived back at the center, staff failed to notice she was still in the vehicle—and didn’t realize she was missing for more than two hours, as temperatures soared into the 90s.

Her death came just one day after a nine-month-old boy in South Carolina was found dead when his father left him inside his car for four hours.

It also emerged that Marlo’s Magnificent Early Learning Center had been cited by the state before for not properly documenting a field trip, and was supposed to have introduced a proper system by the end of March.

Jasmine’s distraught parents sobbed outside as they questioned how the staff could have left her in the vehicle, where temperatures inside are likely to have reached up to 138F after 15 minutes.

April McAlister said: ‘They left my baby in the van… forgetting that she was in there. I want to see justice served.’

The children went on the trip yesterday afternoon, returning at about 1:30pm.

Staff checked all the children off the van and back into the center – including Jasmine’s four-year-old brother, Savion.

But they left the little girl behind by mistake, and didn’t realize she was missing until 3.30pm.

They immediately rang police and Jasmine was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center, but it was too late.

Jasmine and her brother had attended Marlo’s daycare center since they were babies.

Their father, Checo Green, told Channel 11: ‘My daughter trusted them folks like she trusted me. I don’t know why they would leave my daughter out of all the people when they know her.’

He and his wife are now demanding that the daycare center be shut down.

Mrs. McAlister said the first she knew was when staff called her and said she should go to the hospital – but they didn’t say why.

She said: ‘And when I got there, they told me my baby went into cardiac arrest. They left my baby in the van.’

Mrs. McAlister sobbed into her husband’s arms as she said: ‘They took my baby! She was a beautiful girl. She was so smart and just lovable and playful.’

Mr. Green said: ‘It’s hot. It’s Georgia. Who forgets children in a van? Who?’

Police lieutenant Tina Daniels told Channel 11: ‘Zero seconds, zero seconds is the amount of time a child should be left alone in a car to prevent something like this from happening.’

Officers are investigating her death, but no charges have yet been filed.

Man Dies While Raping Elderly South Texas Woman

Investigators said a man has died while in the act of raping an elderly South Texas woman.

The Refugio County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 53-year-old Isabel Chavelo Gutierrez. Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Wright said the incident happened June 2 after he rode two miles by bicycle from his home to that of his 77-year-old victim in the tiny coastal community of Tivoli.

Wright said the 5′-7″, 230-to-250 pound man sneaked into the woman’s house and raped her at knifepoint.

During the assault, he said he wasn’t feeling well, rolled over, and died.

Gutierrez’ body was sent to the Nueces County medical examiner in Corpus Christi for autopsy.

Gutierrez was a registered sexual offender on parole from a sentence for aggravated sexual assault and indecency with a child.
