Copycats Najib and Rosmah take a leaf from Dr M's 2001 move

Unknown | 11:28 AM | | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Were we ever surprised that things would turn out this way? Was it ever going to be a surprise that Prime Minister Najib Razak and wife Rosmah Mansor would apply to strike out the subpoena placed on their heads?

In the beginning, the couple refused to attend an interview to ascertain whether they were viable witnesses for the Sodomy II trial. They made it clear that they would only do so if a subpoena was served on them. Anwar's lawyers then applied for one, a subpoena was served and even-though the decision itself was a surprise; it was clear the motive in allowing it to happen was merely to ensure both Najib and Rosmah would never take the witness box, ever, in the Sodomy II trial.

Unknown | 2:24 AM | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak continues to draw ridicule from opposition leaders for allowing his wife, Rosmah Mansor, to deliver a Hari Raya speech that was broadcast on public television.
Johor PKR chief Chua Jui Meng said today that Najib was not fit to be a national leader because he apparently was not even in control in his own home.

Famous handbags: Rosmah and her 'Birkins'

Unknown | 3:35 PM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

The prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor never fails to generate intense public interest. And even when she herself does not, her accessories would inevitably generate news.
This pictorial takes you to a variety of handbags carried by Rosmah during her many trips and official events. While we cannot comment why many of these photographs were taken while she is seen supplicating in prayer, one thing obvious is that the bags spot the same design and style.

Najib's quickie-holiday and Rosmah's grand TV appearance outrage M'sians

Unknown | 11:42 PM | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Malaysia's scandal-plagued first couple have come under heavy public fire once again. First Lady Rosmah Mansor started tongues wagging when she demanded a special TV slot to air her Hari Raya message to the nation in complete breach of political etiquette. Then news broke that her husband Prime Minister Najib Razak, the head of the nation, had scooted off to Australia for a quickie holiday on National Day of all days.
Their escapades have fanned the public's wrath sky high and the Malaysian Twitter scene has been abuzz with rebukes about their over-the-top behaviour for days now.

If ring not linked to Rosmah, how come it belongs to Maira :Badrul asks Anuar

Unknown | 10:49 PM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

PKR leader Badrul Hisham Shahrin, popularly known as Chegubard, has hit out at party turncoat Anuar Shaari over a RM24.4 million diamond ring that allegedly belonged to Rosmah Mansor, the controversial wife of Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Rosmah has been accused of buying the ring and bringing it into Malaysia without paying tax.
Receiving the information, which has been circulating like wildfire on the Internet, Badrul had lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
That led Anuar, his former comrade-turned-foe, to lash out at him. Anuar challenged Badrul to make a similar report with the police and also accused him of making up the allegations against Rosmah.
"Anuar knows the actual situation in Umno - that all decisions indirectly come from Rosmah. He is trying to show his support to attract Rosmah's attention. He is hoping that he can have a chance to contest a seat in the coming general election," Badrul fired back.

Najib, Rosmah expected in court: All eyes on what questions Anwar will ask

Unknown | 3:49 AM | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

The sodomy trial of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has added another feather to its hat of court-room drama. No less than Prime Minister Najib Razak and wife Rosmah Mansor, whom Anwar has accused of hatching the sodomy plot with complainant Saiful Bukhari Azlan, have been summoned to testify in open court .
Both husband and wife had last week refused to speak when they attended a preliminary interview with Anwar's lawyers ahead of this week's trial. The interview was to determine if they should be called as witnesses. As the first couple did not co-operate, the defense sought and obtained a court summons or subpoenae; they now have to present themselves before open court and answer the questions put forward by the defence team of Anwar Ibrahim.

Wan Azizah as alternative to Rosmah

Unknown | 8:24 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

PKR is moving full steam forward with its Demi Rakyat campaign and its president Dr Wan Azizah is being presented as a role model to Malaysian women.
PETALING JAYA: PKR today unveiled its party president, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as an alternative role model to self-declared first lady, Rosmah Mansor.
PKR Wanita chief, Zuraida Kamaruddin, launched a six-part series of stories entitled “Cerita Kak Wan” as part of the opposition’s new campaign strategy ahead of the upcoming general election.
The stories chronicle the life and career path of a housewife who took on the role of parliamentary member and raised six children while her husband languished in prison.

Anwar slams cops for harassing his alibi: To subpoena Najib, Rosmah, others

Unknown | 3:44 PM | | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Opposition Leader Anwar plans to subpoena 7 witnesses, including Prime Minister Najib Razak, wife Rosmah Mansor and senior cops Musa Hassan and Mohd Rodhwan. Earlier in his testimony, Anwar had lambasted the court for giving Najib, Rosmah and the two cops a "lifelife" by allowing them to escape being interviewed as potential witnesses for the defense.
"Y.A. (Your Honour), when making the order for the witnesses offered to the defence for interview in court, gave a lifeline to the witnesses in stating in open court that they could refuse to be interviewed. Y.A. did not in doing so evenly handle the scales of justice. Y.A. created and perpetuated an imbalance unbecoming anyone holding the mantle of justice,"  said Anwar from the dock.

Rosmah: Political asset or liability

Unknown | 12:41 AM | | | Best Blogger Tips

Nearly two weeks have passed and Malaysia's First Lady Rosmah Mansor has not got into trouble in the alternative media yet. Fresh tales of her misdeeds and over-the-top lifestyle have slowed as her worst enemies soften their pace and stop leaking all her secrets to a curious press. No doubt, they will pick up their shot-guns when it is timely and pellet her again, but for now -  all is quiet on the 'Rosmah front'.
In the past month, the stories about her that regaled the nation included a gargantuan RM24.4 million diamond ring, her in-laws from Kazakhstan with dark links to the Mafia, a super-duper New York penthouse, and exorbitantly priced  overseas trips on public expense. In hindsight, it was an amazing month, but then July was a very busy month for the Najibs. Not only did they travel to Europe but their daughter got engaged to the scion of a very wealthy Kazakh family.

Judge allows Anwar to interview Najib, Rosmah but up to them to agree

Unknown | 2:27 PM | | | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Controversial judge Mohd Zabidin Mohd Diah, often accused of bias against Anwar Ibrahim, surprised the court when he allowed the Opposition Leader's request for Prime Minister Najib Razak and wife Rosmah Mansor to take the witness stand in the ongoing sodomy trial.

Of Al Capone and Rosmah's USD24.4 mil scandal

Unknown | 2:17 PM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

UMNO media has begun to spin the idea that an innocent Rosmah Mansor was merely being used by Jacob & Co, a New York-based Jewish firm, for money laundering activities. Certainly, UMNO's apparatus has shifted into top gear to clean up the fallout created by a leak from the Malaysian Customs department that the Prime Minister's wife had either imported or was involved in some way with a humongous blue diamong ring.
With so many rumours buzzing around and Najib Razak's job in a precarious position as the country heads for a snap general election soon, it is no wonder that the prime minister has marshalled all resources into undoing what many perceive to be his and Rosmah's own doing.
Among the hottest whispers in town are that the ring is part of Rosmah’s daughter’s dowry and is a special gift to Rosmah. Although the 22-year old and very beautiful Nooryana Najib has not officially tied the know yet, her wealthy fiance Daniyar Nazabayev may have got some inkling of his future mum-in-law and this may be why he is keen to keep happy with the ring. So the talk in the tabloids and coffee shops go.
No doubt, whispers have often shadowed the truth but until real evidence is brought forward, such talk are mere whispers. To a large extent, the authorities have themselves to blame for the wildfire manner in which the 'ring' goosip has overtaken the nation.

Wan Azizah: I don't want to be compared to Rosmah

Unknown | 5:01 AM | | | Best Blogger Tips

The prime minister's wife, Rosmah Mansor, has received her fair share of criticism, including allegations about her big spending shopping excursions when accompanying Najib Razak on his overseas trips.
However, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (left) said such behaviour is totally unlike her. "God forbid I will be like Rosmah," she exclaimed.
Wan Azizah, speaking at her home in Bukit Segambut, told Malaysiakini that she had been in a similar position when her husband, Anwar Ibrahim, was the deputy prime minister.
"I have been overseas and when meeting with the ambassador's wife and she would ask me, 'Where do you want to go?'

Najib, Rosmah chicken out of sodomy trial: Dare not face "questioning" in court?

Unknown | 2:43 PM | | | | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

As expected Prime Minister Najib Razak and wife Rosmah Mansor have refused to be interviewed for the sodomy trial of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim. Although government prosecutors say the first couple will oblige if they are subpoenaed, few Malaysians believe that given the current weakened state of the judiciary, no judge would dare make such an order.
Even Anwar complained on his Twitter, why should the first couple deserve special treatment when they were part of a witness list provided by the prosecution itself. Two others are following in their wake are former Inspector General of Police Musa Hassan and former Malacca police chief Mohd Rodhwan.

Musa keeps Rosmah happy and Shafie out

Chief Minister Musa Aman's extensive reach in Sabah makes him an almost invincible opponent to allies and enemies alike.
LAHAD DATU: Musa Aman has ultimate control over the state’s economy, security and soil. He is Chief Minister, Finance Minister and Sabah Umno chairman.
It is a concentration of power, without oversight and unprecedented, in a state government. It was unheard of prior to the Umno-led Barisan Nasional’ s takeover of the state administration.
It also explains Musa’s controlling reach in the extraction and export of logs from Sabah’s forests. Timber was once Sabah’s goldmine.

Rosmah and the Ring of Fire

Unknown | 12:51 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

Women who have a penchant for jewelry would probably envy the gargantuan diamond ring linked to Malaysian First Lady Rosmah Mansor, which has ironically turned into a ring of fire for her, with angry citizens condemning such alleged extravagance while they struggled with their daily lives living in a country of escalating costs and diminishing welfare subsidies.
60-year Rosmah cuts a controversial figure as far as the people are concerned. Most Malaysians have the impression that she wants to outshine her husband and tries to have the country ruled her way.
People who earned less than RM2,000 a month, who include clerks, hairdressers, waitresses and the blue-collar workers, cannot comprehend why a woman would need such a heavy 'stone' to decorate her finger.
