Prime Minister Najib Razak is increasingly feeling the pressure once heaped on his predecessor Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, following a spate of statements coming from former strongman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

This is the observation made by PAS vice president Mahfuz Omar, who said such a reality could be seen following Mahathir's recent statement telling Najib not to hold general election earlier.
Mahathir had claimed that an early election would not be beneficial to Barisan Nasional as more time was needed to finalise BN’s candidates based on the new “winnable candidates” criterion.

Israel seeks calm with Egypt after embassy storming

JERUSALEM, (AFP) - Israeli officials called on Sunday for relations with Egypt to return to normal despite Friday's attack by a mob on Israel's embassy in Cairo.


"We shall do everything in order that relations between the two countries will return to normal," Environment Minister Gilad Erdan, considered close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told public radio.


"In this case the Egyptian authorities acted as they should," he said, referring to the rescue by Egyptian commandos of six Israeli security guards besieged in the embassy building for several hours Friday night by angry protesters.

Chinese Riot After Officials Beat Disabled Fruit Vendor to Death in Broad Dayllight

Hundreds of rioters in a southern Chinese city battled with police into the early hours of Wednesday morning after a disabled fruit vendor died while being beaten by Chinese officials on the street in broad daylight.

The man, identified by the government as 52-year-old Deng Qiguo, died on Tuesday afternoon after a “dispute with city management staff” in the city of Anshun, in southern China’s Guizhou province, according to state media reports.

Freda Heath, 58, collapsed just hours after the op suffering what is believed to have been a major stroke.

She died less than 24 hours later at Marciniak Hospital in Wroclaw, an inquest at Dover Coroner's Court was told.

Consultant pathologist Dr Matthias Koslowski, who performed a post mortem, said it was possible she suffered a reaction to the anaesthetic.

Man kills friend after argument over toilet

JOHOR BARU - Police have launched a manhunt for a man who killed his best friend after they got into a heated argument over the usage of a toilet.

The deceased, known only as Juli, 37, was believed to have been told off by the suspect for using his (the suspect's) toilet in a rented house in Kampung Bakar Batu, around 6.30am on Friday morning.

It is learned that Juli was in the toilet at the time and scolded by the suspect, who wanted to take a bath and performed his prayers.

The suspect knocked on the toilet's door asking the victim to hurry up and both men had an altercation, during which the suspect took out a knife and stabbed Juli several times.

Johor Baru (South) OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Yaacob, who confirmed the incident, said police had launched a manhunt to find the suspect and believed he was still in the state.

ACP Zainuddin also urged those with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999 or lodge a report at the nearest police station.

Woman Arrested After Spraying Deputies with MILK from her BREAST

A woman faces several charges after she allegedly sprayed deputies with breast milk as they tried to detain her over the weekend.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning near the Bridgewater Banquet & Conference Center on Sawmill Parkway.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the area after receiving calls about a domestic dispute.  When they arrived, a man told them that he had been attending a wedding at the facility with his wife, who had gotten drunk and struck him several times before locking herself in a car.

Delaware County Sheriff Walter L. Davis III said deputies tried to talk with the woman, who was identified as Stephanie Robinette, 30, of Westerville, but she refused to cooperate.

“When deputies attempted to remove Robinette from the vehicle, she advised the deputies that she was a breast feeding mother and proceeded to remove her right breast from her dress and began spraying deputies and the vehicle with her breast milk,” Davis said.

The deputies were eventually able to remove Robinette from the car and arrest her, Davis said.

She was later charged with domestic violence, assault, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, authorities said.

Robinette, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was released from custody on her own recognizance following a video arraignment on Monday, 10TV News reported.

Before her release, Robinette, a teacher employed at a charter school, apologized for what occurred.

“I have no criminal record; I take these charges very seriously and I absolutely intend to seek help for substance abuse with alcohol because alcoholism does run in my family,” Robinette said.

Two-Year-Old Dies After Being Left in a Sweltering Van By Daycare Staff

A two-year-old girl was found dead in a day care center van after staff left her inside for two hours in the sweltering afternoon sun.

Jasmine Green is thought to have fallen asleep between the seats on the ride back from a field trip to Chuck E. Cheese in Jonesboro, Georgia.

When the children arrived back at the center, staff failed to notice she was still in the vehicle—and didn’t realize she was missing for more than two hours, as temperatures soared into the 90s.

Her death came just one day after a nine-month-old boy in South Carolina was found dead when his father left him inside his car for four hours.

It also emerged that Marlo’s Magnificent Early Learning Center had been cited by the state before for not properly documenting a field trip, and was supposed to have introduced a proper system by the end of March.

Jasmine’s distraught parents sobbed outside as they questioned how the staff could have left her in the vehicle, where temperatures inside are likely to have reached up to 138F after 15 minutes.

April McAlister said: ‘They left my baby in the van… forgetting that she was in there. I want to see justice served.’

The children went on the trip yesterday afternoon, returning at about 1:30pm.

Staff checked all the children off the van and back into the center – including Jasmine’s four-year-old brother, Savion.

But they left the little girl behind by mistake, and didn’t realize she was missing until 3.30pm.

They immediately rang police and Jasmine was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center, but it was too late.

Jasmine and her brother had attended Marlo’s daycare center since they were babies.

Their father, Checo Green, told Channel 11: ‘My daughter trusted them folks like she trusted me. I don’t know why they would leave my daughter out of all the people when they know her.’

He and his wife are now demanding that the daycare center be shut down.

Mrs. McAlister said the first she knew was when staff called her and said she should go to the hospital – but they didn’t say why.

She said: ‘And when I got there, they told me my baby went into cardiac arrest. They left my baby in the van.’

Mrs. McAlister sobbed into her husband’s arms as she said: ‘They took my baby! She was a beautiful girl. She was so smart and just lovable and playful.’

Mr. Green said: ‘It’s hot. It’s Georgia. Who forgets children in a van? Who?’

Police lieutenant Tina Daniels told Channel 11: ‘Zero seconds, zero seconds is the amount of time a child should be left alone in a car to prevent something like this from happening.’

Officers are investigating her death, but no charges have yet been filed.

Women Flees Home after Finding Unexpected Visitor – Alligator in the House

House guests are always a bit of a pain, especially if  they are uninvited – and even more so if there’s not a lot you can do to convince them to leave.

So spare a thought for Alexis Dunbar, who returned to her Palmetto home in Manatee County, Florida, to find a prehistoric killer making himself comfortable in her guest bedroom. The uninvited guest was a six-foot alligator, and – despite his smile in the photos – he wasn’t in the best of moods.  Miss Dunbar recalled the hair-raising incident, which began after she returned home on Saturday. 

She told Bay News 9′s Robert Hahn:  ‘I look to the right and there’s an alligator in my guest bedroom.’ Miss Dunbar was not going to hang around, so immediately left the house. But she suddenly remembered her beloved pet cats.

She said: ‘My cats are like my daughters. So I thought my cat was eaten. There was blood everywhere.’ It turns out that the blood came from the gator itself, having either been injured outside or as he tried to squeeze himself through the cat flap of Miss Dunbar’s door. Both of her cats later emerged from their hiding places, shaken but not eaten. 

 Experts who came to catch the unwanted intruder believe the alligator crawled up the bank of the pond behind the house, under a chain-link fence, across the yard, through a screen on the porch, and then through the cat flap. Despite the gater being lassoed and removed from the house, 

Miss Dunbar said she was still a little shy when it came to moving about the house. She said: ‘Alligators get into pools or something, but never in a house. I’m going to be scared to sleep here tonight. I’m definitely going to go look under my bed again before I go back inside.’
